We didn't blow away!

Checking in to say "I survived" yesterday. Thank you all for the nice comments! It was later in the day, like 6:00 to 7:00 pm before the worst of the storms passed over us. There were trees down and lots of damage in several small towns around us, but we were fine.

Chairs are blown around in the yard and the pier is under water again...oh, and limbs! It will take a while to push the wheelbarrow around the property, picking up sticks and limbs. That reminds me, Poppy complains occasionally that he can never find a stick on the ground when he needs one; that he has never seen anybody, except me, who feels like every little stick has to be picked up.

All fifteen guineas made it through the strong winds and heavy rain yesterday.

I was out early this morning, even before the guineas flew down. It was nice to look up and see fair skies and the stars and then the sun coming up.

Rosie was crying for her milk even before Poppy left for work, so I warmed her a bottle and carried it out. Will I ever be able to wean this little sweetie her from her bottle? Probably not.

Was that thunder!!!  Dumperoo is a lot like me...he runs and hides when there loud scary noises! He was sitting in my lap last night and I just happened to have the camera in my hand.

Better get busy. As you know, I didn't get much done around here yesterday. Sure hope these tall trees can withstand the winds today. We are under a wind advisory even now. It's wild!!

Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

  4. Windy way up here last night, too. Who'd think we'd have the same weather so far away?
Glad everything is settling down now.

  6. I'm glad everything is okay. We had a tornado touch down about 3 hours from me. We've wind gusts that have bent the trees almost in half but no damage. Poor Dumperoo's wide eyes! He does look scared.

  8. so glad you, Dumperoo, Rosie and the whole gang got through the storm safely. Saw on TV the White House was surrounded by storms and wondered if you got the worst of it.

  9. Thought about you off and on through the day yesterday. The southern states really get hammered during tornado season. I wish I was there to love on Rosie. I would give her a bottle as long as she wanted it. Dumperoo reminds me it's time for us to get a cat. We are petless and I don't like it. Of course I don't like litter boxes either and we can't let a cat come and go where we live, has to be inside only. I love cats.

  18. Well, I'm late on the scene but like every one else I'm glad you didn't get hit any harder than you did.

  22. So glad all is well for you. Our winds were so strong that they blew the cover off the hoop house! Love your critter photos too. I miss my guineas.

I've only had one goat bottle baby, but weaning wasn't too bad. At about three months old I started diluting the milk, gradually increasing the water over the next two months. By the time it was almost all water they lost interest.

  24. I was glad to hear that you came through those storms in one piece. I checked the radar several times Wed. night and it looked like it was a pretty rough time for most of the east coast.

What a wonderful picture of Dumperoo. He looks very sleek.

I can just see you feeing a bottle of warm milk to an old, cranky Rosie many years down the road.

  26. We were driving in the wind and a big branch blew onto our car. Fortunately didn't break the windshield but it did leave a dent on the roof. Things are calm and sunny today, I hope in NC, too.

  27. So happy you and your furry and feathered babies are ok! Rosie is so cute! You might think this is silly but she reminds me of my black kitty Little Star. Little Star(aka as Tarzie or Starzie) had what I called a "poof tail", kinda like Rosie's tail with more fur. Somehow she was born with half a tail. But it was the most beautiful tail I've ever seen on a kitty! She's in kitty heaven now. Hope you don't have too much clean up! I guess the bottom line is all of you are safe!😊Take care!
    Hugs from Darlene
