Coming down from a hay high!

Hope you will pardon me and the silly "hay post". Anybody that crazy over a bale of hay is surely lacking something in their life. The clock was set to alarm at 3:30 yesterday morning. Never let it be said that a clock got Henny Penny out of the bed. I was cold and tired most of the day...and just a wee bit envious of the goats! I am, however, going back for another bale of hay today. :)

and there in the window is that pesky alarm clock!

as soon as the bed was made, a crowd gathered.

and look, we have oodles of shopping bags...why I don't carry one with me to town is a mystery to even me!!

Somebody else enjoyed the sun in the goat lot yesterday.

Eli says the goat lot is more fun now that we have Rosie...

She likes her own little pile of hay on top of the carrier.

Thank you for putting up with me. Seriously! Better get busy. I am going to town again today...for hay, and of course, for things we need from Walmart. The weatherman mentioned show flurries for tomorrow and that means the stores will be packed with nuts (like me) preparing for a storm. Not really, we are actually out of milk and bread and yogurt.

Love,
Henny

A teeny tiny video...that actually loaded. Isn't she cute!

    1. Thank you! Eli has slept on the porch for so long, we are afraid to leave him in the goat lot. In the hot summer months, he sleeps inside where it's cool. He would be perfect in the goat lot...I think we are over protective when it comes to Eli. :)

  4. There is not much that betters the smell of hay, either freshly turned or a bale just opened. Eli and co. look pretty comfy there.

  5. I for one love your post!! The weather is changing here in the south East of England, we are told to expect a little snow in some areas at the weekend.
I am also going to try and do a food shop tomorrow, we are running low.
Have a lovely evening, love your photo's :)

  6. Wonderful video of Rosie! So sweet. Eli looks so regal with his teddy bears.
I keep a bag of cloth bags right in the trunk of the car. All the stores around here charge for bags so I always remember to bring some into the store with me.

  7. Hello there,

I just became a new "follower" of your blog. I do love your way of thinking! You mentioned about making aprons and old fashioned bonnets. Do you have an Etsy shop or an outlet for the things you make? I love aprons and would be interested in seeing what you have.

Thanks so much for creating this space in blogland.

    1. Dianna, thank you so much! I don't have an Etsy shop. I have been working on a page to add to my blog which would show the bonnet and aprons that I have for sale. I do sell a few at a little feed and seed store here in town. I am so excited that you are following my blog. Thank you very much!

  9. Why on earth would you set your alarm for 3:30 AM unless you had a flight to catch??? :) Such a cute video - and I love the photo of all the babies on the bed as soon as you make it!

    1. It is rare that we get up 3:30. Poppy had to be at work at 5:00 to take inventory. Thankfully, this doesn't happen often. I felt like a zombie all day! Thank you! The video was very short.

    1. That's funny...I have really been sneezing a lot lately! It's probably being in all that hay that I love so much! :) I hate getting up at 3:30! Poppy had to go in to work early to take inventory. Thank you Janet.

  16. I just love the picture of Eli and Rosie. I can just see them curled up together. I have lots of cloth bags which I keep folded up inside another bag, so I have a bag of bags. I keep it behind the center console of my van so whenever I shop I just reach back and grab it. I don't often have people riding back there so it's not in the way and I got in the habit of reaching for it. I've been using my own bags since about 1993 when we lived in San Antonio and I took a trip to Nuevo Laredo to shop with friends. One of the Mexican markets sold huge net bags for a dollar and I bought a few. They came in handy for a lot of things and I still have them, plus several more that are more practical for smaller purchases.

    1. Thank you Peg. I am seriously going to put these bags in my car today. I've got one of those bags for cold foods and have never had it with me when I need it. I bet those net bags are neat! I lived in San Antonio in the early 1960's. My daughter Lynn was born there. I have always wanted to go back for a visit.
