Dolls, Dolls, Dolls

When I am not feeling well, and I am not feeling well today...it helps me to spend time in the sewing room. The doctor can see me on Monday so we shall see. Maybe by Monday what ails me will be long gone.

My doll's sweet faces cheer me...This doll is from Germany and was a gift from Andee when they were still in the Air Force and stationed there. Can you imagine how excited I was to get this package in the mail!

This German doll, also a gift from Andee...

This one was a gift from Poppy a few years back. She is from the 1970's...

Growing up, from the time I learned to walk until I was sixteen, there was hardly a time that I did not have a doll in my arms. Seriously. Some time last year I posted about my dolls and growing up.

Most of my dolls today were found in thrift stores. I find them all dirty and needing clothes. This baby doll is from 1970. ..

It makes me happy to hold these doll. This one came from a thrift shop, not that old, just beautiful...

Another doll from Germany. This one is tiny and sweet and porcelain. Thank you Andee!

This is me with my doll many years ago standing amongst the big lovely Azaleas down in Summerville, South Carolina...

Gosh, if only we could go back and do it all one more time.

So, the sewing room makes me happy. I've finished another bonnet and apron...

The apron I am working on now from that new pattern looks really cute. Hope to show you that one soon.

Thank you for listening today. I appreciate you all so much!

Love,
Henny Penny

  2. Oh I hope you feel better soon! Love your dolls, especially the first one! I might have loved dolls more as a child if someone had gotten me one of these instead of dumb old barbies.

    1. Thank you Terri. Barbies came along when my daughters were young and they played with them. The big dolls are just sweeter and better to hold, aren't they?

  5. I love your dolls! I loved dolls when I was a kid, and then I had a second chance when my daughters loved them, too. So sweet of your daughter to send them to you. I hope you feel better quickly and don't need your doctor appointment on Monday.

    1. Thank you Cynthia. It was fun buying dolls for my daughters too. I am a little worried about all these tick bites I have. That could be why I am feeling sick.

  6. Dolls they are wonderful. I still look in antique stores for Diana, a doll my grandmother gave me when I was 5 complete with a handmade set of clothes---- dresses, coat and hat, prom dress, pajamas all encased in a little red houndstooth suitcase. I do so wish I still had all those things.

  7. Oh Victoria, I know how you feel. I would love to have all my dolls back. It is sad that I don't know what happened to any of them. My Mom and Dad divorced after 25 years of marriage. I had joined the Air Force...it was a mess. :)

  8. Just looking at your lovely dolls brings back memories of mine. I actually have my old "Mary Ann", and my sister found an old magazine advertisement that feature the exact doll. From Harriet Hubbard Ayer, doll of beauty, with her own cosmetic kit! I have it framed, and I should have Mary Ann restored with new pinnings inside for her arms and legs. My granddaughters will enjoy!
I do hope you will be feeling better soon, I think tick bites, in quantity, are something to be careful with. Best to let the expert look you over just in case. I will be sending healing wishes, my friend.
    Take care,
    Pam

    1. You are so lucky to still have one of your dolls. I would love to see what "Mary Ann" looks like. I might find her on line .I do worry about getting too many tick bites. That is probably what is making me feel sick. Thank you Pam.

  10. Hope you are feeling better by now, or have some answers at least. I don't like the sound of all those tick bites:(
Those are some beautiful dolls. I still have a childhood doll. My mother made a wedding dress and fur coat for her. I have my straw stuffed teddy bear too:)
