When we built the pond in 1996, Poppy and I went to Lowes garden center and bought one, just one, yellow water iris. Today iris surround the entire pond.
The bull frogs were noisy last night. One in particular was louder than the others. Mama used to say the old frogs are saying, "under the root, under the root". Then another would say, "what'da ya chew, what'da ya chew"? And a frog would answer, "tobacco, tobacco, tobacco". Good memories.
Eli and Poppy hung out in the living room last night...
Poppy got the first piece...
Love,
Henny Penny
Your yellow Iris are beautiful! I see trouble has a footstool:)
ReplyDeleteThank you! You make me laugh. Yes, he has taken over Poppy's foot stool.
DeleteWhen a plant is happy where it is planted it will grow and multiply. Yours certainly did! What a beautiful setting you live in.
ReplyDeleteMmmm. that pie looks good!
Thank you! That Iris must have been happy there.
DeleteYour property really is a slice of heaven! If I worried about what my cooking looked like,w'd starve!

Oh thank you! I love your place.
DeleteEli looks quite comfortable "hanging" out and your iris are such a beautiful yellow color. I heard the chorus frogs here this weekend, the ones that sound like when your run your thumb across the spikes of a plastic comb.
ReplyDeleteI need to listen for that sound of the chorus frogs. I'm sure I have heard them. I love how you described their singing.
DeleteAs my Daddy used to say: The proof is in the eating.
ReplyDeleteHey Victoria. And that would be true. :)
DeleteHey Henny, Frank said to tell Poppy thank you about the turkey. I froze the meat for now I will cook it soon. Do you cook them? Shelby did buy the topper on the headstone for the flowers on Grandma's grave. I put the basket on there. I love your water lilies they make the pond more beautiful. The pie looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteLove you
Hey Vicki, I recently cooked a wild turkey breast that was in the freezer and to my surprise it was good. The first one I ever cooked was tough. I cooked it wrong and too long. Love you!
DeleteI always wanted to have a pond close by. Hasn't happened yet, so lucky you! Your place really is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHey Karen, Thank you. I love your place, and your dogs, and your garden spot, and the woods that you all walk in. I don't guess you would consider trading? :)
