These miserably hot humid days have given me more time to sew, and it's about time! I was afraid the sewing machine would lock up, sitting idle for so long.
There's a mess in every corner. Seems like I sew better and get more done, working on several things at once. Piled up on either side of the sewing machine are four bonnets and two aprons, in the works.
Been a while since I've posted from the teeny tiny sewing room...
and just outside the closet, my favorite baby doll waits to be held. Feels good to be back. There is a craft show coming up the first weekend in October.
Feels good to be back. The sewing room is my quiet place to think and dream and plan, oh, and to sew. The CD there on the dresser is by Daniel O'Donnell. Do any of you like him; like his music? I have fallen in love with Daniel O'Donnell. Seriously! Especially his songs of Ireland. I really want to run away to Ireland with him but guess I had better hang around here.

Anyhow, the old pie safe...
Finished up two full aprons just this week...

Okay, I've probably gone overboard with the pictures tonight. I do get carried away at times. Thank you for visiting. Guess I'll get ready for bed. :)
Love,
Henny
You've certainly been busy sewing and getting things ready for the up coming craft show. It's so cozy in your sewing room; no wonder you love being there. I love that your favourite baby doll gets to sit and keep you company.
ReplyDeleteThank you Granny Marigold.
DeleteHow fun to see your sewing room again and all your lovely fabrics! You will have your aprons and bonnets all ready for the October show. I love the Christmas print aprons and I bet they sell fast! Does Dumperoo like to be around when you are sewing? My cats just love it when I am sewing and they stay as close as they can. It's funny, they are scared of some machines like the vacuum but they love the sewing machine and will sit right next to it when I'm sewing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sewing and your lovely sewing room!
Thank you Bonnie. Dumperoo does love to hang around while I sew. Sometimes it drives me crazy. He catches thread or lace or anything dangling or jumps up into the middle of my sewing. I really miss Bickett. Now he enjoyed the sewing room and the bluegrass music I listen to. At bedtime when I turned off the music he would meow and jump off the bed and go to the laundry room where he slept. :(
DeleteHeHe! It ALL looks lovely Henny!
ReplyDeleteThe bonnets and aprons especially!
So bright and colourful..Have you
made a bonnet for Ellie yet..? :).
And Dumperoo! he's having a lovely old
wash, perhaps he knew you were going
to take a photo of him, and he wanted to
look his best..Bless!x

and keep busy..! :o).

Thank you Willie. You always have the best most interesting information about, well, everything. Did not know that about Daniel O'Donnell. Enjoy your day outside. A little rain sure makes the grass grow.
DeleteYou certainly have plenty of projects going there. They all look fun and your aprons turned out lovely. I'm not crafty enough to have that much going on at one time. I'm lucky to start one project and eventually get it finished. Dumperoo look quite comfy on the chair and I'm so glad to see him again.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn. Dumperoo likes my sewing chair best and takes it any time he can beat me to it. :)
DeleteThanks for showing us your Sewing Room- lots of projects going. Stay cool there Henny. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kev. Thank you for visiting.
DeleteI've not heard of Daniel so will now go check it out. The sewing room is indeed a place to dream (love)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lady Locust. I had not heard of Daniel O'Donnell either until about a year ago. I watch his hour show while sewing on Saturday nights. We get the RFD Channel on Direct TV.
DeleteOh my! Prairie Pines Sewing Room! I'll be right over. Thank you for the nice comment. I do love visiting sewing rooms. The Blog, "Sarah Lizzies" just recently posted about her sewing room. She has such beautiful things. So does Julie at "My Threadbare Life". So many pretty sewing rooms! I do look forward to the fall craft shows. Thank you so much for visiting.
ReplyDeleteWe have Daniel O'Donnell's CD's here... and have for years. Love his songs! And your sewing area is much neater than mine, Henny.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rian. I have ordered three of his CD's. I would love to go to Branson, MO and see him on stage.
DeleteSuch a pretty sewing room!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Debra.
DeleteI love when you take us into your sewing room. There's always so much going on there, and so much to see. I need to watch your daughter's video of your sewing room again, which I enjoyed so much.
ReplyDeleteThis is a reply to the comment you left on my blog. About the pickled beans. I looked for recipes on line and was horrified at the amount of vinegar they called for. My recipe calls for half a cup vinegar to 4 1/2 cups water. Let me know if you want me to send the recipe. I'd feel just awful if you made some and they tasted awful.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing a glimpse of your beautiful sewing room and the things you create! :)
ReplyDeleteI just love your sewing room, so many beautiful and wonderful things you make come out of there!!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing room is a fun place to visit, so many pretty things.
ReplyDeleteI started working on some quilt squares month ago, just learning projects, but I haven't touched them all summer. Summer
isn't sewing time for me. Being outside is, but right now it's too hot.
Good projects! Looks like you could sew for a bit!
ReplyDeleteHappy to see your projects again.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad introduced me to Daniel O'Donnell. I love his Irish music too!
So glad you're sewing again. Next month is national sewing month. I'm hoping to jump start my sewing then.
ReplyDeleteBlessings from Harvest Lane Cottage
I do love Dumperoo! He is so handsome! I love your sewing room, too! Pretty aprons, dear Henny!
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see everything in your sewing room once again. You certainly are a talented lady. I love all your pretty material and beautiful aprons and bonnets that you sew...and now you're making snowmen! Do you still make those lovely little dolls in bonnets and long dresses that you used to make? You must be taking a break from picking veggies! Enjoy your Irish music while you sew up a storm for the October sale!!! Thanks for an always great blog, Henny! Love ya.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love your sewing room. I loved seeing you the other day. I just wish we would have had more time to open together. I love you and aunt Shelby so much.
ReplyDeleteDear father in the name of your son we guard give all evil we get rid of this worldwide pandemic I ask for the whole world Amen
ReplyDeleteHenny, I love that you’re willing to show your messy areas as well as your neat orderly ones! Can’t wait to see what you dream up for the crafts fair.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have plenty to do in the sewing room to keep you busy until the weather cools off. Those snowmen are going to be really cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely creative space, and what beautiful fabrics to create with! I can see why you love spending time in there! The aprons are lovely too, and remind me of my Mom who used to always wear them. She also loved to sew, but I never could, and I tried. She even did my "project" from Home Ec, when I was in high school. I'd forgotten that memory.... Thanks for reminding me of it. Happy sewing my creative friend! ❤
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the aprons. I like the style.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing room looks like a cozy and fun place to work.
Carla
Your sewing room is a sanctuary! (Really, your whole home and gardens are.) God bless you and all you do. Have you heard this one by Daniel O'Donnell -

Oh Ruth thank you.I tried but can not get the link to work. Sure wish it would. I would love to hear the song you're talking about.
DeleteRuth....I have sent Henny another link via e~mail
Deleteof your choice of Daniel O'Donnell singing....
'Here l Am Lord'...!
What a charming sewing room you have - I am quite green with envy :)
ReplyDeleteLovely to visit your sewing room, HP :) Dumperoo is so handsome! Now I'm going to go listen to this Irish fellow you're so fond of!
ReplyDeleteAwesome article guys :)
ReplyDeleteI just love to visit your sewing room. It is like I am a kid again and I am sitting beside my grandma watching her make a new dress for me. I learned to sew at a young age and did do quite a bit when I was first married. Afraid my machine may be locked up from not being used😉. Going to check out Daniel ODonnell on you tube now. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIf you love Daniel O'Donnell then you will also love everything Josh Groban sings! ALSO Have a listen to Aled Jones singing in duet with Sami Josef "Song of our Maker " I love your little sewing room ...it is a bit like mine ....an explosion of creativity !! lol ! :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your sewing room and hearing what you are doing. I have not made an apron in ages...and I really enjoy making them. Do you always make your own bias binding? I don't know if I have ever made my own. Seems like I remember making some once but I cannot think what for.
ReplyDeleteYour sewn aprons are great ... I especially like the green one :-) and I now hear Daniel O'Donnell on youtube - while looking at your blog and I'll start dancing right away :-))) Greetings from Viola.
ReplyDeleteMy sewing room has been sadly neglected this summer. But it will be back in business this week as I make masks for my grandchildren. All of their schools are requiring them and they are a bit bored with the ones they have!
