A sunny day last week

Little Weetie Pie standing guard...

All together there were seven bundles of tree limbs and small saplings, Poppy and I cleared from the pond's edge...

Is that a fist or a wave??

So, all this can be added to the natural fence. Poppy recently made the comment, "you must want a fence awfully bad".  Well, I do.

Do you see Poppy way over there. He was chopping away with a machete.

Anyhow, back at the house, calling for Eli to bring his teddy bear and come in...
come on sweetie, it's lunch time
slow poke!
no, not you, Eli!
Mama said "come on"
hurry, hurry, hurry
GOOD BOY!!

Sorry about the muddy pond water. Hopefully it will clear up soon. Have I mentioned how happy I am that it is SPRING?? Finally, warmer weather!

But you know what? Yesterday was cold and rainy and windy, all day long. The temperature never got above 39 degrees! and by this morning there was frost on everything, including the peonies, the tulips, the iris...all about to bloom. Makes me sick, but that's nature...and that's North Carolina.

Oh, thank you for the comments on my last post. Sorry I didn't get back to reply, but to answer one question...

Pilar, how neat that your mother is a Virgo and your sister an Aries, March 27th. Only difference, Lynn is my oldest daughter. She was born in 1963. Andee, my youngest is a Virgo, Sept. 8th and she was born in 1965.

Love,
Henny

I will be around to visit and once again, catch up!

  1. Looks like you and Poppy have been busy! I see Eli is wearing his harness. He's so pretty! We've been having nice weather here too. Molly has been going to the park every afternoon and she loves it!

  2. We were 60 yesterday. 80s this weekend.
The flowers that come up in snow should be fine even with a little frost.
    God bless.

  4. Wow, you have both been busy such a shame the weather has changed again. Same here, the wind and rain are back with a vengeance just when we had made a start on the outside jobs.

  5. Oh how I love to see Eli with his teddy bear! That is just the cutest thing! Your place looks so beautiful! It looks just like a well kept park or resort. I've been picking up lots of sticks too leftover from the effects of winter on our trees. I can't wait to see the progress on your fence. Is it called a "wattle" fence or something like that?

  6. Eli is just adorable with his little teddy bear!!!! Does he have many toys and that's the favorite? My dogs are completely spoiled with a million toys and of course have their favorites...I just recently packed up a bunch of them to go to a dog shelter near my daughter's job. Now if only she would actually remember to take them there!

  7. Hopefully the frost you had didn't do serious damage to your Iris, Peonies and Tulips. That would just be too sad. Our sunny days are over for a while. Rain began overnight. It was 11C ( around 50F) this morning and it hasn't warmed up at all. Still, I think it had a Spring-ish feeling when I went walking.

  8. If we lived close we could help each other with our natural fences. :) I was going to work on mine this afternoon but it was just too windy!!

    Cute pictures of Eli.

  11. Don't worry about those plants and frost. They are all very hardy and can withstand some frost.

  14. Sweet pictures of the dogs, it must be a lot of work to clean up around the pond every year, but it is so worth, what a beautiful spot you have! Spring weather sure is fickle, you never know from one day to the next what it is going to be. But we are just happy that we are on the upswing with the sun staying out longer, warmer weather will be here soon enough :) Blessings to you!

  16. We have had a dip in temperature but no frost for a few days. Snow this morning but thankfully it only settled on the rooftops. There is more forecast so we may well see a white Easter, it is more likely to have snow at Easter then Christmas in the southern half of the UK now. Global Warming??. Eli looks at ease with his harness and Weetie is such a cutie.

  19. I just think it's the most adorable thing that Eli carries that teddy bear around with him! You certainly made your home on a lovely little piece of heaven. So glad for spring to finally come...AND STAY! Hugs!

  20. Your property looks so lovely, Henny. That garden of tulips is a treat to these tired of winter eyes. And Eli...oh my goodness, he is adorable. I can see Poppy gets a real kick out of him. :-) Spring is slow but here finally. I spent some of the morning picking up branches and twigs in the wood-lot this morning. It felt so good to be back there again. Heres to good weather ahead. Love to all.

  23. Everything is looking so neat and clean there at Henny Penny Lane. I am resisting the urge a bit longer to mow our lawn so the birds might find more to eat amongst all the weeds and grasses. Besides I rather like the flowers scattered all over the place even if they do belong to a lowly weed. And, oh that sweet Eli and his teddy bear!

  24. Oh my goodness Henny - your Eli with Teddy is absolutely precious. Brought a big smile to my face when I saw Him. As for Poppy - he looks like he is in the business of helping you make that fence. Is it going to be a waddle fence? I had never heard of that before but Jeri at Hop Along Hollow makes them. Well take care friend and have a lovely weekend. It is is going to be 70 here Sunday - rain though - so more mud :( - Hugs!

  29. You and Poppy certainly are hard workers. I know you will enjoy your natural fence. The weather you described from the day before sounded like our weather today. :) We even had snow flurries.

  30. Hi, HP. I'm also trying to get around to a few blogs and catch up on reading! Your work looks great, and oh my -- Eli is just a DOLL. I would hug his neck. I can't believe he has his very own teddy bear! That's adorable. Yes, we are so glad to have spring at last ... but as you say, that WIND!! It's been just awful.
