Outside on a sunny day

This day has been so pretty! I started to point the camera right at the sun and take a picture. We have had beautiful sunshine all day long and after two weeks of cloudy rainy windy weather, well it felt wonderful.

After making the bed, putting the dishes away, and straightening up the house I carried Eli to the groomer. He came home clean and white.

Have to admit though, I am beat. Simply worn out. I cleaned out most of the garden today, pulling up all the bean and tomato stakes and then the vines. I potted up five pots of Dill for the teeny tiny greenhouse, then moved the thirty small Rose of Sharon plants I've started to the greenhouse. I then started mowing the front yard and up around the garden. The mowing is what did me in! The grass had gotten so tall I had to mow over each row twice.

The animals enjoyed the sun today too. I was clipping and getting some knots from BunBun's fur when Smokey came along and made himself at home.

Smokey is a trip! He is everywhere! Have I told you how he catches a mouse almost every night? Well he does, and leaves them at the front door. Must be his way of thanking us for giving him a home.

Oh my, it is 10:00, bedtime! Poppy probably wants to look at the computer so I will say goodnight. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

  1. Eli certainly is snow white!

We are on the back side of dry. The ground puffs when you walk on it. I would like some rain but not as much as many have had.

    Have a blessed day.

  3. Sounds like a busy day you had . We have had a mix of fog that it is right now again very foggy can barely see across the road , chilly rain , sun and cloud the past few days . Lovely photos , I have a few Rose of Sharon to I need to bring in but I don't have a green house so I guess in the house they go with my geraniums lol ! Like our Miggs always looks so nice and clean when she comes from the groomers but it doesn't last long with her as she rolls right away in the grass lol all though she has dark coloured fur so you cant see the dirt as well . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !

    1. My greenhouse is very small. I have a little electric heater and use a drop cord. I have rooted so many Rose of Sharon plants and think they might not survive the winter outside in pots since they are so small. I think dogs enjoy being dirty, don't you? :)

  7. What beautiful animals you have. Smokey in that first picture looks just gorgeous with the sun hitting his fur and making it look all silvery. Eli as usual looks so pristine and elegant. Bun-Bun is looking chipper as well----it looks like you are managing to keep his/her fur from getting matted.

Doesn't it worry Bun-Bun to have Smokey perched on top of his cage like that? I would think that a rabbit would be wary of having a cat that close to them. Although I guess since they have been around each other for most of their lives they have come to some sort of compromise on that.

    1. Hey Vic. Thank you. Smokey does seem to be getting prettier. BunBun likes Smokey. He stands up in the cage. Well at least I think he likes him. :) BunBun has knots and mats again, but not as bad. It is a job!

  9. My hubs Elli is at the hair place as I type this e-mail to you!!!!!!!!!! We lost our beloved Miss Cody Sunday the 4th I cried and cried, my hubs Elli buried her next to the other sweet kittieh cats, I have a ginger girl and a mr. miyagi and that is that for me and cats, it breaks my heart for them to pass on the rainbow bridge..My neighbors never take their german sherpherd dogs for walks and I asked if I could they loved it and pulled me along like I was in a chariot very fast, I took along a scoop and poop bags, they just loved me up so much and loved the walks..I never understood why people get such lovely dogs and never take them for walks, they just bark for some attention all the time, I go to the fence and talk gently and during our 150 year drought form 2104 thru 2015 I took them water which she scarfed down, they are more concerned with making their home into a auto repair bunch of crap them taking anytime for their dogs and one cat..sad but young people are that way! We are not home much so we ignore their car next to our fences and their crap they try to clean up but don't we are at the shore enjoying our time of retirement, the people across the street have perennial garage sales, trying to sell crap for money as they run after it a lot! Like I said young people are something else, our only is young but doesn't act like that, she has a garden in NYC rooftop and enjoyed her cat for 15 years before her untimely passing the rainbow bridge on sept 1, 2015! There is my Elli he looks great for his cut and shampoo! Love your blog, your place looks delightful out away from people we live next to, oh, well both of those neighbors are moving iinto the real country thanks to the Lord, as the people who are buying are retired and lovely, no dogs though and no cats, ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. The dogs I walked and walked for about 6 miles are both boys, perfect gentlemen, they stopped and did their businesses and I scooped up and gave them water a lot, I packed three containers of cool good water and some treats they actually had for them and I doled it out, when they came home with me pulling me and running like crazy in a huge backyard they did not bark once and slept like baby dolls the owners mentioned it to me, when I hear them bark I go to the fence and talk gently and pet them, it is not a life I would want, dogs are pack animals and german sherpherds more pack animals than most doggies..Your Eli looks so nice and gentle and loving, my hubs Elli is wonderful he took them both for a nice long walk around our block 3 times and they were so doggone happy and it is raining and they loved it first rain in many years as I can recall, suppose to be a nice winter, but if the snow doesn't come around the ski and many businesses that rely upon it for their livelihood will be up the creek as the saying goes, so I am praying and chanting for snow and more snow! ciao and peace and joy to you and yours!XXX()()()()

    1. Dear Ciao, I appreciate and enjoyed your comment. I am so sorry to hear about your Miss Cody. It is so sad to lose a pet. Those dog next door to you are lucky to have you and your husband to walk them and give them fresh water. Those dogs probably love you and your Eli more than they love their owners. We have a young couple who live not far from us (a ways through the woods so we can't see them) but they have two dogs tied out back that bark constantly, begging for attention. It worries me all the time. I feel so sorry for the dogs. Take and thank you for visiting.

  11. I'm so glad to catch up with you and all your furry family. I had to laugh at BunBun. You can't make heads nor tails of him in the photo! Both yesterday and today are so beautiful here, too. We sure appreciate the sun after that siege of rain and flooding.

    1. Hey Cynthia, BunBun was turning around and around. He seems to like Smokey. I still can't hold BunBun but if I sit the cage up on that high table and reach in, I can half way groom him. I have sure worried about the people in SC. Glad you're getting the sun for a few days anyway.

  12. Hi Henny Penny, Really sounds like you accomplished a lot! You carried Eli to the groomer? Does that mean that is not his favorite place! How do you keep him so white and clean all the time? When we had a cat she left a mouse on the doorstep a couple of times. I really didn't appreciate her gift! Enjoy all your furbabies! I am babysitting a friends furbaby dog for a few days along with our Coco! Nancy

    1. Hey Nancy, actually Eli likes to go see the groomer. He gets all excited and jumps in the car. When we get there and start inside, it's funny because he hesitates like I don't want to go in, but then he is okay. He gets to run and play with the other dogs in their big fenced in area. It is called 'The Animal House' and they board dogs too. Very nice people! I used to babysit a little white poodle for some friends but they moved away. Does Coco enjoy having a friend there? Henny
