You know what? As usual lately, I was about ready to end my blog but checked in and saw all the comments from all my best friends and even noticed a new follower. How could I say goodbye! You make me happy! Thank you!
Saturday was an extra special day. Got to see both my daughters...
Andee was home from West Virginia so the three of us met in Wake Forest. Guess you know that's Andee on the left and Lynn on the right.
We don't get to see enough of each other and when we are together the days go by way too fast.
In other news, I've been wanting to make something new and different to sell at craft shows and the farmer's market. What do you think about Boho Bags??
Most fun is picking colors for the lining.
Speaking of bags, I was in the check-out line at Walmart. When I reached in my bag to get my checkbook, the man in line behind me said, "you're the only woman I've seen who carries a lightweight pocketbook. My wife's pocketbook is so big and heavy, she could kill someone with it". Actually, the bag I carry is a little smaller than these I'm making. Would love to find a pattern like mine.
Anyhow, it's August! Not my favorite month for sure. It was 98 hot and sticky degrees here today. No fun being outside. I've always preached, once the Fourth of July is past, also is passed the fun of spring and summer, and I start looking forward to fall.
Miss Ellie says it feels good to just stay inside on the raggedy old, pieced together, couch...
Ellie seems to feel good again, almost back to her old self. It has taken some time to get her medications just right with this Addison's Disease. We have to go in for bloodwork every few weeks. She is such a sweetie pie.
Eli appreciates being inside too on these hot humid days...
in his very own chair, I might add :( One of these days we may get a new living room suite. He's our big boy...our guard dog.
Are you feeding the hummingbirds this summer?
We have two feeders up, one at the kitchen window and one at a living room window. It is amazing how much sugar water these tiny birds drink. I boil sugar water every single day and fill both feeders every single day! It's almost a full time job but worth the trouble. :)
Get well soon, Diane
Why not take your bag apart and make a pattern from it? You can then make yourself many more and ones to sell too:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. I've looked at my bag and still wondering if I would be able to put one together from a pattern I made. I might give it a try. :)
DeleteSuch pretty daughters. Glad you didn't quit! You have so much to show and say. Those hummingbirds! wow!!
ReplyDeletePretty handbags. Yes, I agree, picking out the fabric for the interior is fun! andrea
I did ask about the boots Henny so am glad to hear how they went. My hummers are fighting over the feeder and the rose of Sharons. I like the bags, but slightly smaller would suit my needs. Good idea for you to sell. Broke my hand so typing is noyt easy. Lynn and Precious
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pics of your daughters. I always look and try to see which one resembles you more. I can never decide.
ReplyDeleteI love those bags you're making now. I can imagine the fun choosing pretty fabrics. You have a good eye for that.
So good to know Elli is doing better and Eli is still guarding your home :)
Granny M
I think your bags are a good idea, and very pretty. Working with colors is so much fun.
ReplyDeleteGood to see your big furry friends again. Such beautiful and sweet dogs!
It's hot here now too and it really cramps my style. I like to be outside, but not today.
Those Boho bags should sell like hotcakes with the younger crowd. The kids that are in and out of my house all carry them. They are popular all over again, like when we were young.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandy. Hope they sell.

Thank you so much for following my blog from France! I'm so excited to have you. We do enjoy the little pond in the back yard. We had storms last night so today is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. Hope you get some relief from the heat soon.
DeleteOh your daughters are so pretty. Love your bags. I feed the hummingbirds too. I always miss them when they are gone again.
ReplyDeleteHey Judy. Thank you. We miss the hummingbirds too when they leave. I won't have to buy as much sugar though. :)
DeleteI carried a bag just like these when I was a teenager...I loved them but I had to practically dump everything out just to find one thing. Ah, memories! I am down to two hummers and I am not too sure they are the same ones every day...I didn't ever get more than six this year, and that was disappointing. I hope you are enjoying the cooler day today, it sure is nice.
ReplyDeleteHenny! I have to scold you for even thinking about stopping your blog! :) Just pop in from time to time.
ReplyDeleteAndee looks a lot like you. Such a good looking bunch!
I love the boho bags. I bet they'll sell well.
I agree. Just stop in whenever. The bags are very pretty and I'm all for anything that doesn't slide off.
ReplyDeleteHaven't fed hummers as I have trouble with wasps and wouldn't want to encourage them any more.
Glad you all are well. Be safe and God bless.

Thank you Kaye. Hope to get two more bags finished soon.
DeleteWell, you do have beautiful daughters. Looks to me like they take after their Mama.
ReplyDeleteI love the bags and think they will go over really big! The colors of your samples are just perfect for the style.
Oh thank you Victoria. Most folks say Andee favors me most. Lynn looks a lot like her dad. She got his blue eyes.
DeleteBless Your Heart dear Melba....I am getting well just as soon as I can, dear friend. Thank you for caring. I love your new bags....hope they sell up a storm! And hope your very hot weather leaves you soon. Thank you for an always awesome post! God bless and take good care! Love you.
ReplyDeleteDiane, thank you so much. Sure been thinking about you and hoping you are feeling stronger and better with each day. Love you!
DeleteSweet friend, I'm about to scold you! Don't you dare quit blogging! Oh my word, what would we do without our Henny Penny Lane to give us a touch of country grace? I have had those same thoughts about not blogging but I can't imagine not seeing your posts whether I blog or not!
ReplyDeleteThose two big babies of yours are so fluffy! How in the world do you keep them so clean? And your daughters are beautiful and they do take after their mother just a bit, don't they!
I love boho bags but my shoulders won't let me carry any king of bag that hangs on them. I used to use them all the time.
Grace & Peace,
Pam
My daughter and hubby were down weekend before

Hey Willie. I didn't realize your daughter lived so far away from you. That is quite a drive. Well, I guess these bags I'm making are called Boho bags. That's what I Googled when searching for a pattern. I love the Boho style clothing...all of it. If only I were younger! :) We had a big rain last night and it was much needed. Appreciate your comment. I need to make a pink bag before going to the market to sell.
DeleteAh! Bless..! You know what l always say....

Ellie and Eli have the right idea. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the boho bags will be a real hit! They're cute and staying on your shoulder is a huge plus.
I think Boho bags are a great idea and should sell fast! I would buy one if I was there! How nice that you got to see both of your daughters! They are beautiful women! I'm glad Ellie is feeling good again!
ReplyDeleteOh please don't stop blogging! Your new bags will do well, I'm sure. I love them! So glad your doggie is better. Our goat neighbors have those dogs, but yours are much more beautiful. I'm not crazy about August either-but I do love the fall. So nice for you to see your beautiful daughters. Take care!
ReplyDeleteNO, don't quite blogging! So many people have been leaving that I am afraid they could shut the whole thing down. Plus, look how many followers you have! I love your Bohos! they are beautiful and perfect. Ellie is so pretty. I had no idea that animals can get Addison's Disease. How on earth did you get these up-close shots of the Hummers! Seems like they are never still.
ReplyDeleteGRACIAS POR PASAR POR MI BLOG, MI NOMBRE ES ANA Y ELLAS SON MIS NIETAS ALGUNAS, YA QUE TENGO MUCHOS NIETOS Y NIETAS. BENDICIONES ERES MUY AMABLE.
ReplyDeleteHello, Henny Penny! I agree about the heat after July 4th. I'm doing better this August than last, as far as coping with the heat. I'm learning how to do paper folding and enjoying myself quite a bit, staying inside. I go out to do chickens early in the AM, and then I try to remain in AC the rest of the day! I make no apologies! I LOVE your new purses so much. I've had a couple like that, and they are super cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the BoHo Bags..great and great color..can't wait to see more of yours...along with your big beautiful furbabies. Its no fun to be out for one minute in the Southern Humidity in NC..(and other ones like SC, lol)...love Fall..can't wait. I love hummingbirds and they sure do tisk with each other..guess they are greedy but so beautiful. lol :0) Keep on dancin'... :0)
ReplyDeleteFun to see your girls, nice that you got a visit with them! I like your bags! I am certain they should sell good. You should make pot holder too...the ones you buy in the store are awful:)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm certainly glad you decided to keep the blog open!! It's always fun to come for a visit!
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
Ellie and Eli sure know how to beat the heat and stay cool. I like the boho bags, they are very nice and hopefully will sell out for you.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Henny, On the bandwagon with the rest of your crew - don't give up your blog, just do it when you can and no pressure. Ok? Oh look at Andee and Lynn, Andee is your literal spitting image! They look happy to be with their mama! The doggos have such lush fur, they will certainly be staying in until the end of summer, its so dang hot! Glad to know that Ellie has done so much better. Finally, put those dancing shoes on and show us a dance outfit now and again. I am down for a boho bag when you get ready for orders. Love You Terry
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. Regine
ReplyDeletewww.rsrue.blogspot.com
It is good to catch up with you. We do feed the hummers here. In fact, they had some friends in today — a couple anoles who claim the front porch and any bugs that land on the hummingbird feeder! They seem to coexist quite well with the birds. Glad to hear that Ellie is feeling good again. Can’t imagine being a hairy dog in the summer we have had this year. Hard enough to stay cool as a human. Be well, Henny, and have fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Friend, goodness me, I lost you for sometime in blog world. I found you again today commenting on Shug's blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to catch up. I like the boho bags. :-)
Love, Carla
I dont get on blogger a lot........but oh, how I hope you do not end your blog! I always love to stop by here and read and look! Your daughters are so lovely! I love your handmade purses and the fabric you chose for them is lovely! I have only had a couple of hummingbirds this year.......one is so very tiny! Your doggies have the right idea to stay inside where it is comfy. Have pleasant days ahead!
ReplyDeleteHi, Henny Penny! Please don’t end your blog, I visit often and really enjoy it. I understand though, I neglect mine terribly but always go back to it. I have recently had a Facebook debacle and was very glad my blog was here, it was like a safe place! So, just know that I enjoy reading what you have to say and look forward to my visits.
ReplyDeleteAre you doing ok??--- sure miss your fun posts!! Please don't close your blog down! Debbi at debbisfrontporch-- not anonymous-- ha ha LOL
ReplyDeleteI have read the above posts a couple times...trying to go back through and see what I have missed. My time just seems to slip away from me. I like those boho bags, and have been thinking of making one. I like a light weight bag...but unlike you, I have way too much in mine when I carry it. Mostly I just go with billfold and keys and pocket knife in my pockets cause carrying a purse messes with my neck. And I so love purses...I always have.
ReplyDeleteEstou precisando fazer passeios assim como minhas pimpolhos.
ReplyDeleteEscolher o tipo ideal de bolsa para cada passeio é importante.
