Facts you didn't know about Henny

Remember Tom Wilson's "Ziggy" from the 70s and 80s? Well, you've probably never noticed πŸ˜” but Ziggy and I are a lot alike.

I mean, stuff happens to me that if Ziggy could replace me in the situation it would be the perfect Ziggy cartoon.  Here's Ziggy...

I'm telling you, fits me to a T.

Stuff that happens to me makes no sense...

I was in Food Lion delivering a couple dozen eggs to a friend of Poppy's so leaving the grocery store empty handed I walked almost smack dab into the large automatic doors, because of course, the doors didn't automatically open for me, like they do for the other hundreds of folks that go out.

Feeling a little flushed I looked back and saw Audrey and LaTonya, two of the front end managers looking at me..."why won't the doors open", I asked as LaTonya walked up and the doors opened wide..."you probably don't weigh enough", Audrey yelled, teasing me.

Things never worked for Ziggy either...

Automatic doors not opening is old news...at least twice I've parked at CVS Pharmacy, jumped out of the car to run in but the front doors were locked...well, locked until another customer walked up and went right in; as the doors opened, I followed them in. πŸ˜•

and once I saw a sign in a car that read, "Not For Sale"! I could have sworn that's what it said but later passing the car again the sign read, "For Sale".

Speaking of cars! It was the late 1960s, 5:00 and all us employees were trying to get out of the mill parking lot to go home...as I stopped to look both ways before pulling into highway, a car rams into the back of me. Oh no! Not me! Not now! How embarrassing! I pulled out and went on home. Next day the lady who hit me said, Honey, I tried to stop you. Did it do any damage"? "I don't know", I said, "it's okay".

Back in the day when we all wore a wrist watch, there was never a time that I could give anyone the correct time...my watch was always stopped. Watches don't run on my arm.

Oh, here's another one...drink machines don't work for me, never! Especially back during my working days . Breaktime, others went to the vending machines for a snack. I dreaded putting my two quarters in the machine...silence always followed; no sound of a Pepsi can rolling to the front, or a candy bar dropping to the bottom. I could feel my face get all flushed. Sometimes somebody would kick the machine for me or hit it with their fist...most times I just slid back into my work space and did without.
I've always blamed these weird happenings on being both left handed and a Virgo. 😟and being terribly terribly bashful didn't help either.

So now you know. Okay, should I publish this tell all post? Well, why not! It's all in fun anyhow. By the way, Ziggy has always been my favorite cartoon character.

Thank you dear friends.

Love,
Henny

  1. Dear Henny, you're hilarious! I got some good chuckles from your cartoons and stories. I really don't believe for a minute that you're like Ziggy though. You're much too smart for that! You have talents that some of us can only dream of. Now, you may be right about being too light in weight to open automatic doors at stores, but otherwise I'd say you're perfect in every way! And you write a perfectly enjoyable,. entertaining blog too! Love ya Henny!

  2. Oh Henny, this is so funny! I do understand how you feel though because sometimes I'm like that too. I've always loved Ziggy and I wish we would see more of him these days. I have known people that could not wear a watch because it would not work on them. I've heard that some people have a higher level of electricity in their bodies and that is why. But it does seem strange that we would have any electricity in our bodies! There is another way you are like Ziggy - you are both very loveable!

    1. Bonnie, thank you so much. Like I told Diane, I worried during the night about posting this silly stuff. I do love Ziggy though. My Dad couldn't wear a wrist watch either. He carried a pocket watch. Thank you.

  3. HaHa! Bless! Yes! l to, not because l'm a Virgo...
have been through ALL that..but, when you look back,
it's ALL worth a giggle, and makes for good conversation! :).

The drinks machine brought back memories, as kids at
school we used to go to the drinks machine and bang the
sides of it, the teacher used to say, "what's going on here
then"? "Please Sir, we've lost our money" to which he used
to reply "Hang on then" and give us the money..HeHe! We
never put any money in it, in the first place! So then we'd
    get a drink..and..teacher paid for it..! :).

And on one hand l'm o.k. but on the other l'm ambidextrous...!
Much the same with my legs l suppose..at least they go in the
    same direction..! :O).

And..as for problems driving the car, as for most people, they
    are endless..l talk a lot..under my breathe..when l'm driving...
even when l'm on my own...!

Never mind Henny..it's all part a partial of life..and sometimes
a bit of fun and a giggle..! :O)
Great read, great post, great write up...Take Care...! :O),

    1. Oh Willie, I can't believe you used to bang on the drink machine claiming to have lost your money...that is so funny! Never thought of doing that. Of course, I would have been scared to death to try such a thing. :) I am ambidextrous too. (glad you knew told me how to spell it). Thank you so much for the comment.

  6. What a hoot to read this. I think we all have our moments in life when things just don't go our way and we'll wondering if the rest of the world is laughing. At least when you look back on it you can smile and think how all those things actually happened to me. I am enjoyed this and will take time to contemplate on some of the goofy things that probably happened to me years ago. Lynn

  7. Thank you Lynn! I'm sure dumb things have happened to all of us. It's embarrassing to think back at some of the dumb things I did. :)

  8. Those self checkout places are what don't work for me. I don't even try anymore!!
Your post really made me chuckle. : )

  9. Henny, I've had those self-open doors not open for me too. It makes you feel like you've been rejected... usually they open eventually... kind of like they're saying "oh... alright... let her in". Another thing is those credit card machines. Some want you to swipe across, some slide in, some tap... mine won't ever let me tap even though it says it's supposed to. What makes you feel worse (like an old lady who doesn't know what she's doing) is when the person takes it out of your hands and tries themselves. I'm always happy when it still doesn't work for them... (proves it isn't just ME).

  10. Hi Henny, Are we sisters? I have the same problems you seem to have. I can't tell you how many times I've run into doors that didn't open. It happened at the Walgreens last week. It was so embarrassing. And just today I tried to pull open a door that clearing said PUSH with a line of people waiting behind me. Again, embarrassing. You are definitely not alone. No reason to be embarrassed with me. I'm a soulmate of yours.
I hope you're week is a wonderful one.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  11. You are not alone with watches not working for you. My mother-in-law never wore a watch since they wouldn't run for her. There something about body chemistry that causes that, but of course I can't remember the details.k

  12. This little post sure made me laugh. Don't fret...this happens to a lot of us. Hope the rest of your week is awesome

  15. I always liked Ziggy too! This post made me laugh and I have had similar things happen to me!

  16. I chuckled a fair bit, reading this. I always have weird stuff happen to me but mainly because I'm just not paying attention. I loved Ziggy!

  17. We love you ANYWAY, Henny !

Reminded me of "Joe Blitsfix" (only an attempt) of a character in Lil Abner's 1950's cartoon. He went around with a black cloud overhead.....

  18. Ha Ha! A fun post! I have those moments too, Henny! I do think it comes from being a little unsure of ourselves.

  19. I loved this post Henny. I'm beginning to think we all are somewhat "clutzy". Just this week we were visiting friends and someone noticed with horror a huge bruise on my arm. I mean this was a doozy. I bump into so many corners that I hardly even look at any bruises I have.

  24. Oh my, Henny, I just loved this. My wrists and arms do not work with watches as well, so you and I have the same wrists and arms. Hee Hee! I have given up on wearing watches.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think all of that is rather endearing, Henny! But frustrating for you, I'm sure. I have another friend who also cannot wear a wrist watch. They just do NOT run. Something about her body chemistry. These are questions you can ask the Lord in heaven someday!! But it makes you quite special :)

  26. I think this was a great post and I laughed out loud a few times! I think we can all relate to Ziggy sometimes!

  27. Such a cute post. I was feeling for you all the way through. :0( :0) .... Ziggy is cute. (ps. Many younger years ago..I ran into the Bi-Lo Grocery store door...it hurt so bad..wondered if I had broken my nose after I left. So I called the Store and told them of the default of their door..and how I had hurt myself..the person laughed. I hung up. :0( .. lol Some folks would have had a lawsuit on ole Bi-Lo. But it was so embarrassing and painful...I could not tell the right then as it brought tears to my eyes. I absolutely LOVE your baby pic. :0)

  28. I love this post Hennie! Are we connected at the hip? I have always had that kind of life and until I just embraced it somewhat, I had a horrible time some days. I love that you took the time out of your day to post this and remind us that all of us have little things about us that make us feel different, but we are all God's creatures and therefore, perfect in every way too! Much love Henny, your house place looks lovely this year! Terry

  29. I don't know why I did not expand farther when I read this. I always swear I have a leprachaun or something living with me. I am all the time looking for something, spend an hour looking for it only to find it where I looked at first. This used to happen just every now and then....now it happens often.

And then today. I went to walmart. There is one lady that works there...she is some sort of manager. Not ever just on a check-out lane. I had went to her two times before when she had opted to go ahead and get me checked out. Well, one was, and one was something else, but I don't remember what. Both times something happened. Nothing really my fault or her fault, but it is like I jinx her. Well, I thought today might be different. No, got all the way checked out and went to pay, and the card reader would not read either of my cards. She had to get some one to come help us! She don't remember me...I think my hair is shorter than it used to be. And besides that she probably has a lot of stuff on her mind anyway. But just thought it so funny.
