Hey friends,
and the newly painted potting bench. Can you believe we I had the old Singer base turned around backwards when we attached the top and back? Pretty normal for me.
I LOVE the wood floor!
All this looks a little too "set up" right now, in fact, I had to go back and knock over a few flower pots. Well, it needed something! An old sink and a load of potting soil will help and maybe dirty the place up a bit. Still haven't found an old wood stove and tea kettle.
The weather is still too cold and wet to enjoy being out here, but we have a start. Spring can't get here soon enough!!
I kinda like this corner with the old raggedy chairs. Yesterday in the Scrap Exchange with my daughters, Lynn and Andee, I found a piece of granite to fit on top of that little metal stand, to make a side table.
Oh my gosh, wish all you could visit The Scrap Exchange in Durham. No way could I ever tell you what it is like. Well, you could Google it and get some idea. Lynn works there now, and she love it!!
Had lots more to talk about but I've simply got to get busy. Poppy will be home at 1:00 so I need to finish the house work, especially vacuuming. :( I'd rather digging stumps!
Thank you for stopping by. Oh, Any ideas on making the little potting area prettier will be appreciated.
Love,
Henny
Also...In my hurry to get busy I forgot to say thank you to two new followers, Sheryl and Jan. I appreciate your friendship so much!
Here we are heading into another week of rainy days. It was exciting to hear the weatherman say this morning, there may be a brief period of sun this afternoon. A brief period is better than none.
and if that happens, I'm going to rake up two or three loads of leaves for the chicken lot. The hens are walking in mud up to their knees! The leaves are wet, but that will be better than mud.
Anyhow, been anxious to show you the wooden floor in the playhouse...

I see an old rake head on the wall, you know the old metal rake head that has horizontal tines. Hung upside down it serves as a holder for small shovels and garden shears. I bought tools with holes in the handles so I could put cord through the holes so they hang easily:)
ReplyDeleteOh! Wow! The floor looks great..Love the light colour of
ReplyDeletethe wood..Really nice! :).
Better still..the Singer base, up until a few years ago,
l had one and used one..belong to mia Mama..! Goodness!
She made lots of things on it too! I gave it to a lady
locally, who wanted it for her Granddaughter...! So, it's
gone to a good home..!
Just watched two episodes of Bizarre Foods America..and just
later..l'll be watching a couple episodes of..wait for it....
Swamp Murders..HeHe! Bless!

It looks amazing, Henny!! You need to show us it from a distance so we can have a better idea of the space.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking amazing Henny!!! Just beautiful. I would think it would be a nice spot even just to sit with a cuppa in those chairs of yours. Look forward to seeing it all ready for potting ... the floor looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I know it has you just itching to get out there and work with your plants! It looks like something wonderful out of a magazine. I especially love how you cut a hole in the floor for the tree to come through!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable is that??? I love it.
ReplyDeleteOur temp today was 83 and with the humidity, real feel was 93. I worked outside for a couple of hours and couldn't take anymore.
Hope you will have some less rainy days this week ~ FlowerLady
Good job on the floor. I like the color of the workbench.
ReplyDeleteYou've done wonders with that playhouse/potting area!!!
ReplyDeleteThe floor really is the finishing touch.
Winter is getting weak here.
ReplyDeleteHi Henny Penny wow thats the prettiest potting area i have ever seen ,love the bench and the colour of the chair, beautiful work my friend, well done xx
ReplyDeleteWith all the rain I guess you need a good potting shed.
ReplyDeleteThe floor turned out so good. What a great potting shed you've created. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure looking forward to getting outside and working on our property again.
Tried to pick up some branches but they were frozen to the ground!!
It is looking so great! My only concern would be if underneath the floor would be a hiding spot for rats and snakes? I'm assuming it is built up off the ground. You will have fun looking for all sorts of stuff/ 'garden junque' to hang on those walls. You have a good start already! I'd love to go to that Scrap Exchange place. I'd be like a kid in a candy shop! No gardening happening here, we are into our third week of snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, well at least only overnight now, which is an improvement.
ReplyDeleteI want to come play with you...you know work done by two friends turns to pure joy!
ReplyDeleteOh girl, I'm in love with your little playhouse! Maybe one day I will have my own. The Scrap Exchange sounds like a place I could love! Probably a bit too much!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
Oooh! I love it! The potting bench on the singer base is genius. I know you're going to have lots of fun in it!
ReplyDeleteI like how you have so much fun in your yard along with the hard work.
ReplyDeleteThat playhouse of yours looks just ducky! I love that floor you put in. I wish I could come over and sit in one of those chairs and visit with you while you're potting!!!
ReplyDeleteYour area is turning out wonderfully! In the back of the current issue of Cottage Journal that just arrived, there is an article about pillows. I thought of you when I saw the article... I thought, "I bet Henny could make wonderful pillows like these from her scraps!"
ReplyDeleteAnyway...that chair would look so cute with a pillow and a little floral cushion. My grandmother had lots of chairs in her back yard and she made cushions for them, which made them very special.
Your playhouse is fabulous. I love the singer table....love the quirkiness! As time passes and you find more pretties for your little space, it will become even more lovelier. I like the thought of cushions, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing space you have made. The floor looks wonderful, maybe an old tin bath might be an alternative for storing your soil.
ReplyDeleteThe wood floor is perfect! The potting shed looks so cute now. We got a welcome hour or so of sunshine late yesterday, too. I’m tired of these gloomy, drippy days.
ReplyDeleteYour playhouse just gets cuter and cuter! LOVE it. Now how can I inspire my fella to get busy on mine? I may have to wait until we are no longer having night temps in the teens and no snow on the ground though. :)
ReplyDeleteThe playhouse is very pretty. You've done a great job decorating it. I hope the rain moves out soon. We are having rain every day here in WNC.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is absolutely so so pretty!!---I love it! You've done a great job!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice. I like it!
ReplyDeleteGreat results on the playhouse floor. Are you seriously going to add a stove and sink, or were you kidding? I am getting excited at the mere idea of a stove and sink! A true playhouse!!
ReplyDeleteSoon after we arrived in Canada, my parents bought a secondhand antique Singer sewing machine for my grandma. She made our barbie's dresses from scrap fabrics but wouldn't include buttons or ties to remove the clothing with, and she'd get so annoyed when she found we had cut the dress straps to take them off!
Anyway, the Singer had a base like the one you got there-- BUT my parents! passed it on to friends after my grandma had a stroke and couldn't use it anymore... That was more than 20years ago, my sisters and I still wish they had never done such a thing! The funny thing is that the one and only time I have sewn anything, I've hated it, yet I complain about the loss of that machine. It's just such a beautiful object, you know?
I can't believe how wet NC is. The weather is still very wintry over here, but I can feel spring is on its way! I cant wait, either. Oh, the scrap yard sounds enticing, I think I'll give it a virtual visit.
Blessings!
Love your potting bench Henny, I see lots of pretty flowers getting their start there, when the weather warms. The floor is perfect, why you could even pot with flip flops on, and your feet will stay dry
ReplyDeleteA place to sit and ponder, what could be more sweet
Hugs,
Jo
your flowers look pretty. love them.
ReplyDeletehave a great day
Oh my, I also love your potting bench! I definitely agree that a few of the flower pots needed to be toppled over! :~) I just know we will be seeing more of your amazing little playhouse as the days grow warmer and work in the gardens begins.
ReplyDeleteMama, that looks awesome!! You are amazeballs. I love you so much, and I had so much fun with you and Andee!! ~Your busy girl who likes to play with paper
ReplyDeleteThe Potting Shed Playhouse is delightful! It does look tidy, but I'm sure you'll take care of that in no time, haha :) :) Won't it be wonderful when the weather is warm and dry, and we can all be outside? It's coming.
