Mokey says none of this is his fault!
What is that old song they used to sing on Hee Haw?
Gloom, despair, and agony on me.
Deep dark depression, excessive agony.
It's really not that bad. But gosh! I haven't had a minute lately.
I had planned to go into great detail about how our hot water heater sprang a leak under the house and has been spewing hot water and steam for probably two months now. We never would have known had the power bill not more than doubled in the last two months. Yes doubled! Oh my gosh! Friends, it pays to check under the house occasionally.
My nephew Greg, who just happens to be the best plumber around, came out and fixed the problem. Now we have the worry of drying out the flooded crawl space and the dripping insulation and the water soaked rafters, well maybe it's the floor joists I'm talking about. Anyway, it's all those boards the insulation is tucked into when you look up from the crawl space.
On a happier note, I've got happy pictures of the teeny tiny garden.
The rain showers these last three days has everything in the garden happy and growing.
Poppy says I planted the onions too deep. I followed the directions on the bag of sets??
I love Sweet Banana peppers! Sorry to gloat over such a teeny tiny garden. The garden makes me happy. I need happy today.
and down past the blackberries are the sunflowers and zinnias.
Smokey's new job around is watching over the goat's lot.
Ya'll okay down there?
and now a quick nap.
Too many pictures, I know. I get carried away. Poppy say, no wonder you are always needing new batteries. You take too many pictures of the same thing.
Thank you for stopping by.
Love,
Henny
and for good measure, I'll throw in one of old sweetie pie...

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about the hot water heating leaking for two months. I hope that there is not a lot of damage. I don't think you take pictures of the same things. No more than I do.
ReplyDeleteLove you!
Hope the sun comes out today, that will help. It is wet everywhere around here! I do take a lot of the same pictures and then pick out the best. Love you Vicki.
DeleteI love your many pictures ....thanks so much! Your garden is looking Terrif!!! Your Eli is looking terrif and so is smokey! I'm so sorry to hear about the water problems....we have a couple things like that happening around these parts too! You never know what'll happen next! Oh well...got to grin and bear it I guess. I always love to check in on your blog every night...even if you haven't blogged that day. I don't always feel like writing a comment, but do know that I always love to check in and see what's happening with you and yours! Keep up the great blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane. I know, everybody has these problems at times. But you're right...you never know what'll happen next. Get one thing fixed and something else breaks. Guess life would be pretty boring if all went smooth all the time. Thank you for looking at my blog.
DeleteWhat rotten luck your hot water heater leaking for months!! Nice to have a capable nephew to help out. I'm glad you take some comfort in your amazing garden.
ReplyDeleteYes, we do appreciate Greg. From now on, I peeping under the house occasionally! :)
DeleteWow - that little garden of yours is wonderful. It`s so lush and green. Looks like it won`t be long before you have yummy tomatoes. That Smokey reminds me so much of Audrey. They could be twins. :) I bet he`s just as wild, too. Sorry about your problems. Everything is great until it`s not. :( Give Eli a hug for me and tell Poppy not to worry, we enjoy all your photos.
ReplyDeleteHey Deb, it always tickles me when you say Smokey reminds you of Audrey. I LOVE your Audrey. Smokey doesn't have that confident Lion face like Audrey, but he is a little rascal and wants to do his own thing. Thank you.
DeleteGet some rechargable batteries and a charger they are worth it in the long run. Your garden is beautiful and green tomatoes already!! Water problems ..yucky...hope you dry out instead of mold:)
ReplyDeleteI intend to get those rechargeable batteries today! I've got to go to Walmart this morning anyway. The mold! There is already some there. That's our biggest worry right now.
DeleteI second Far Side re the batteries, that's the way I go, so much cheaper. Your garden is growing so fast, wow! What a pain about the water heater. Get some fans down there to help dry things out.
ReplyDeleteI plan to get those batteries today. We do have a nice heavy box fan and I plan to use it today...as soon as this misting rain stops. A little sun would help a lot!

ReplyDeleteRechargeable batteries are a good way to go. Especially because I want you to continue to take "too many" pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. Those batteries are on my shopping list for today. :)
DeleteYour garden is looking fantastic, about a month ahead of mine, I have flowers on the tomatoes but no fruit yet. Eli and Smokey look as content as can be. Mind you so would I in your garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was surprised to see those tomatoes. Now if the sun will come out today, that would help everything.
DeleteCan you have too many pictures???? My answer would be no I love to see them. Your garden is looking amazing, so much further on than mine. Those tomatoes are a delight.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I don't think you can have too many either! :)
DeleteOh no- that's awful! I'm glad you discovered it and I hope your floor dries up! Your garden is coming along great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri. We sure need to keep a check on things more!
DeleteAh, there. I was able to start my day with a picture of Eli! And as a bonus, Smokey too.
ReplyDeleteSo water was both your enemy and your friend, between your heater and your so successful garden.
Sounds like Karen's comment above is the way to go - fans. When we had some water damage in the house that's what the professionals did, was bring in a bunch of industrial sized fans.
Marty, thank you. That's what we plan to do. Greg talked like the professionals would charge a lot. We do have a nice heavy box fan. Thankfully the sun is supposed to shine this afternoon which will help and if we get that fan set up. Mold is a worry now too.
DeleteYour garden looks great! We are going to be eating our first mater from our deck garden this weekend. Can't wait! I made a batch of pesto today from basil from a large pot on the deck. Our raised beds are still in progress. Maybe they will be ready for a fall crop. Isn't it funny how cats invent "jobs" for themselves?
ReplyDeleteThat first ripe tomato is so good! "mater" ! You're back in the south! I laugh every time I hear that word. Mama said once that she would love to have a ripe tomato. A friend there said (hope I can write it like he said it) "Ain't Aunt Rache got any maters"? Anyway, I just sowed some Basil seeds a few days ago. You're really ahead. I want to try pesto.
DeleteOh, no, I love your pictures. More, more!
ReplyDeleteWell there is always a fly in the ointment, isn't there. But your ointment (garden) is so wonderful that the fly pales in comparison to it.
Smokey makes an excellent, extra vigilant guard cat. Every household should have at least one of those.
Thank you Vic. Yes, Smokey is all over the place! I am tickled over the garden.
DeleteGood luck with the water abatement. I know you have higher humidity in your neck of the woods, so hopefully the big fan will help. Maybe there is a mold deterrent to spray or use? Your garden is wonderful, and it shows your hard work! I will be lucky to have a pot of tomatoes since I have waited so long. Always love your pictures and commentary.
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, it is a mess. We are looking for some kind of spray that will kill mold. Clorox will work, I think. We've got a fan going now and will probably rent one of those dehumidifiers next week. Thank you for visiting. Hope all is well out your way. Hope your tomatoes do good. :)
DeleteWater problems...the worst! One Saturday night watching HGTV (remember must watch Saturday night?) in 2000, I decided to redecorate my powder room -- dropped a large picture which slipped down and busted the water hose to the toilet. Water running everywhere, yelled for my sleeping husband upstairs to help while using the entryway rug to shovel water out the front door to save the wall to wall carpet in the living room and family room. Took an hour to get the main water valve shut off (just moved in, couldn't find and had to wake up neighbors with similar house) meanwhile people running everywhere looking and jumping over me while I was using rug to shovel water out front door! We had to have a water remediation company work for a week to resolve water issues. The home insurance covered the $3600 repair bill after $500 deductible. You might want to check with your homeowners insurance to see if you're covered for this. Hope my tale of woe made yours seem not that bad!
