Dearest friends...

I know you all are probably thoroughly fed up and tired of my blog. Really, who want to follow a wishy-washy blog? Fact of the matter is it used to be fun to take pictures with my little $99.00 camera, load them on the computer, write a post, and pull pictures as I needed them. Now to use a picture I must send it from my iPhone to Poppy's iPhone. He then mails it to my Gmail, so that I can download it to the computer. Loading all the pictures from iPhone to computer doesn't work for me either...I can never find them. Oh fiddle sticks!

Meanwhile back in the jungle, or woods...

Poppy has been putting out pieces of apple for the deer. Look who found them...

So sweet! Hope he's careful under all the deer hooves stomping around. Yes, deer hunting is in full swing around these parts. Poppy seems more interested in helping the deer than he is in killing one. Wonder where that came from?? :)

Many pictures have I taken with plans for various blog posts.  Here's a few from my "funny mushroom" post that never happened.

The mushroom that winked at me...

and the lovely mahogany one, standing in the soft green moss...

and the lumpy bumpy mushroom, that came from under the straw...

Not quite the collection that was in my mushroom post from a few years back.

and, oh my goodness! Leaves, leaves, leaves! I've cleaned out the teeny tiny garden and covered it with little willow oak leaves raked from the front yard.

Oops! wrong picture. I wasn't quite finished here. But I dare not try and change anything! The garden is actually completely covered in a warm blanket of leaves now and ready for winter. Oh, but this...

Late in the season, one Cosmos came up in the garden and covered itself in buds. Hoping so much that the buds would open before the first frost, and they did...

Winter has been slow coming this year. We still haven't had the first frost.

Remember my make believe "covered bridge on Henny Penny Lane"? :) Had to get a picture while the truck was gone...

Does kind of look like a covered bridge. I can dream. :)

All the little farm animals, such as they are, are fairing well..
Miss Ducky for one...

Eli and Ellie, two more...

and "me", trying to relax my legs after a few hours in the garden...Smokey never misses a chance to take advantage of a soft bed...

Well dear friends, guess that's about it for this time. Truly, I do understand if you've had it!! :) I shall return. Shelby and I have a big craft fair this Saturday. Hopefully, I can post about it. :)

Love,
Henny

PS: Randall Rabbit sends his love, and so does Rosie.

  2. My but it's lovely to see a post from you💖. I understand about picture problems. My son had to reload Firefox on my computer and ever since I have all manner of little but annoying problems. Just for instance there's the problem of me being anonymous on about half of the blogs I follow. Why? Even my son is baffled.
I'm glad all your animals are doing well. Nice to see Eli and Elli. Very kind of Poppy to feed (?) the deer and the occasional turtle.
I hope you do well at the craft fair ( I'm sure you and Shelby will have a great time visiting).

  4. Nothing seems simple in the technological world of today, but I'm glad you managed to get some photos through to your blog. I used to have issues, but now use my phone as a camera and it synchronises with my laptop so I don't have too many problems.
Loved seeing your pictures, and especially that brave little cosmos doing its best to beat winter!
    Enjoy your day, Mxx

  5. Hi there! Glad to see you and not fed up! I hate how difficult blogging can be. I have a free google photo app that my pics go to and it's easy to get them on the blog from there. Maybe it would work for you?
Everything is looking good there. I love cosmos. Yes, I can see the covered bridge!

  6. Always glad to see you whenever you have time to pop in Henny. Love those crazy mushrooms. I've never seen any like them. I'm also glad that Poppy has decided helping the deer is better than shooting them, although I know it's necessary to keep the populaton down, I still hate thinking of those beautiful creatures being shot. I'm a wimp. :-)
Hello to all of your sweet animals, especially Eli and Ellie. They are so beautiful. My Zoey is like Smokey, she never misses a chance to be in my lap.
I echo Connie at Far Side, get yourself a new camera to make things easier and good luck at the craft fair!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  9. So good to hear from you Melba! I'm sorry that it's so hard for you to make posts and add pictures now. Why did it have to get so difficult? Everybody loves to hear from you. Your place looks so pretty covered in leaves and I love those cosmos flowers! Love that apple-eating turtle too. All your sweet animals look awesome. Hope you and Poppy are doing well too. Take good care, friend. Love you.

  12. Ah! Here we are...All behind again....Just got back from
town, busy~busy...I was getting a hair~cut this afternoon,
l have one every two/three months...Karen's just phoned,
she has Covid, so has to give it a miss....! :(

Do you know it's funny...All my life, l've eaten game, raised
    on it, pheasant/rabbit/venison/squirrel...and even badger,
though not now~a~days what with the TB...! :(
If game is given to me, in a demised state, then l will clean,
gut and skin it...I have 'never' killed a living thing, just so l
can eat it, in fact l try to avoid wildlife whilst driving, on the
road, if l find an animal already run over, on the side of the
road, l will then, give it shake, put it in the car, and take it home.

I know you all are probably thoroughly fed up and tired of my blog.
Really, who want to follow a wishy-washy blog?
AND....Let's 'NOT' hear any more statements such as this.....!!! : (
There is only 'two' Blogs l look forward to really, and that yours and
    julie's in New Zealand...."Nuff Said"..! :O).

Eli and Ellie look lovely to....But Smokey....Your the diamond...! :O).

    1. Hey Willie! I'm sorry to hear that she has Covid. Seems like there is always someone around here getting Covid again. Thank you for coming back to visit. I am seriously thinking about getting myself another cheap camera to use for blogging. Picture taking was more fun back then. We have a couple of neighbors who keep asking Poppy if he has killed a deer yet. They want deer meat. He could have killed several but just can't pull the trigger. Most that he sees are does and young bucks. Oh, I thought about you when I posted the Smokey picture. :)

  13. Pretty pictures! I used to send my iphone photos to my email and then open up on my laptop until my husband showed me that you can use a charging cable to connect the phone directly to my computer's USB port and open them up there. (If the cable doesn't work you might have to use an adaptor. Under the folder in your computer, you should be able to find them. My computer is 9 years old, maybe if older this doesn't work? andrea

  14. It's always so good to see a post from you. Love the cat photo last. It reminds me of taking care of my daughter's cat, and I do miss his snuggles. Have a nice week.

  15. Henny, it has been years since I was lucky enough to see a tortise. I am so glad for your photo of one eating apple. When I was a kid decades ago, we had a patch of black raspberries and one year we had a tortise who lived in that patch and ate and ate every berry low enough to reach (plus what I left for him, much to my mother's dismay). Precious loves seeing Smokey taking a warm cuddle with you and I like seeing the fur family is doing well. I hope the fair goes great and you both sell lots of goodies. Hope you can take photos and post later on. We miss you when you are gone for ages. Lynn and Precious

  17. I ALWAYS enjoy your post. I did a post on mushrooms earlier this week because my yard had them everywhere. I've not ever seen many of the ones you posted...and the winking mushroom is So unique!! Your covered bridge can be exactly what you dream for it to be!! Hey...just add a few tiny Christmas lights around it and your dreams will sparkle.

  18. Don't give up, Henny Penny! Just blog when you're able :)
Here's what I do for photos on my blog: my Android phone automatically uploads any photos I take into Google Photos. And when I do a blog post and click on the icon to add a photo into the post, it lets me choose from Google Photos. So it makes it pretty easy. I can also choose from any photos I have anywhere on my laptop computer, if I want an old photo I saved before. Maybe this will help you? Do you use Google Photos? It's a great way to keep LOTS of photos and even videos.

    1. Thank you MK. That sounds like how it used to be for me when I used a camera. I could load all pictures onto the computer and pick the ones I wanted to use as I needed them. Now I load them all from my iPhone and they disappear. The pictures are somewhere on the computer but I can't find them. ?? :)

Love the turtle and all the pictures.
I bluetooth the pictures from my phone to the desktop on my computer. Works quick and easy for me.

  21. So wonderful to see a post by you! First of all, you should come to Indiana to Parke County...there are around 30 covered bridges in the county....and every fall in October they have the Covered Bridge Festival...there are yard sales every where you go, and every little town has booths where people sell stuff. It is a farming county...The biggest town in it is Rockville and its population is only 2,500ish...that is right 2,500. The festival lasts for 9 or 10 days...and I think records show there have been up to 2 or 3 million visitors during that time.

I have been reading your blog from the beginning, not every day...just a post here and there...plus I put apron in the search and am looking at all those posts to see what you have made. LOL Did I tell you, I did find my apron patterns? I was so relieved.

    1. Oh Rose, I would LOVE to come to the Covered Bridge Festival. Wonder if I could talk Dan into going?? Worth a try. I will look it up on line too. Thank you! It sounds just wonderful. Glad you found the apron pattern. I've been making more half aprons lately, the gathering aprons with big pockets. I appreciate your comment!

    2. There is sooooo much there...I have not been in a few years....since Roger's stroke. I did meet the girls there once. There is food every where you look...yard sales along all the main roads...just more than a person could ever see if you went every day. If you ever plan to go, you will have to book a hotel a way ahead. They fill up for miles around.

  22. I plug my samsung s22 directly into the computer with the charging cord. Then I look for the samsung in the list of programs when the computer recognizes it, open that file, and look for the DCIM folder. That is where the pictures are, at least in my phone. Simple to then drag and drop them to a folder on the computer. If you are in the walled garden of Apple, this may not work.

  23. Well now listen. If you work on Dan and get him to drive you to see Rose, you have to come see me too. It's not that far-------just a hop, skip, and a jump down south east to get to Bloomington. You just get busy talking him into making a nice little trip to Indiana. That's all there is to it!

I have missed seeing your beautiful home.

  25. Thank you for posting, though it sounds difficult. I miss you and wish you could post more often, but I know life on the farm can get hectic. Interesting mushrooms and glad to see all the animals so happy and healthy! Must see Randall soon, though! Looking forward to the next blog, its nice to see the beauty of the farm! XO Terry
