It's really looking like spring these days and I am loving every minute of it. The yard is dotted with purple violets and even the tiny weeds are pretty now.
So, I'm thinking, what better time than now to do a blog post, so much to show and tell, like...
our new baby chicks..
There are six of them, two black marans, two easter-eggers, one golden comet, and a tiny red one that I've forgotten what she is. :) We are down to three old hens and a rooster. Hardly getting enough eggs for just the two of us.
Oh my gosh, I haven't shown you Willow, the newest bunny on the block...
So far, I haven't been able to get a good picture of her. She is still a little afraid of me but getting sweeter every day and eating kale from my hand.
Oh Randall Rabbit, Randall Rabbit...
:) have you ever seen such a big rabbit foot and cottontail? Randall is such a big boy! Anyhow, I had to divide the 10' x 10' rabbit lot to keep them separate...as much as I would love a bunch of baby rabbits, what in the world would I do with them! So, I'm on a mission now to raise $190.00 to get Willow spayed. The vets here and around the Raleigh area charge between 350.00 to $400.00. Isn't that crazy! There is a place in Greensboro, Sheets Pet Clinic, that will spay a rabbit for $190.00. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from here but worth the trip, I suppose.
and Smokey wants to know if you can find the kitty cat in the picture...
silly kitty! Oh my, speaking of kitties, I want to show you one of Cousin Patty's Ragdoll Cats. They have two, Beau and Teddy. I'm pretty sure this one is Beau...
I would just love to pick him up and hold him. Pat said they had been on a long stroller ride. Beau and Teddy look like a ball of fur in this picture...
Okay, I promised myself to finish a blog post tonight! So, no matter how boring, or how sorry a job I've done here...I am hitting the publish button. Oh, I do want to thank you for the nice comments on my last post. My goodness! I too wish that I had a shop on line.
and now I promise to get around to reading your posts.
Thank you!
Love, Henny
Yay Henny! You're back. We've missed you plenty! Such great pictures of Spring busting out all over at your place. Love your fancy new rabbit. I bet Randall likes her too! And you've even got chicks now! Spring has sprung where you live. So nice you're back. Love all your pictures! Take good care, friend. Love you.
ReplyDeleteHey Diane. Thank you for stopping by. I've been away so long, I was afraid no one would even visit. I am still enjoying my beautiful mug...being extra careful to not break it. Oh, Shelby fell a couple weeks ago and broke her hip. She is doing well and we're hoping she will be able to do all the spring craft fairs. Love you!
DeleteI will pray for Shelby that she is as good as new in no time! Say Hi for me!
DeleteHi Henny! You've been missed and I'm glad to see you today. Willow is a beauty and Randall Rabbit is HUGE! I hope you can soon get Willow spayed so they can be companions and have more room with each other. Smokey looks very content among the daffys and spring chicks too! There is nothing that says spring more than a fluffy little chick. :-) I' m so glad to have you back my friend. Whenever you can visit, I really enjoy it but I know your busy with all of your fur and feather babies.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
Smokey does a good job of blending in! A very nice post, indeed, Henny. :)
ReplyDeleteYou all be safe and God bless.
Your new bunny Willow is a beauty and will be a great friend for Randall. Those 6 tiny chicks are adorable. You sound busy and happy and that's good. I miss your posts 💗💗💗
ReplyDeleteIs your new bunny, Willow, a black bunny? I love black bunnies, so pretty! Love those redbuds! Awww, sweet baby chicks, we are picking ours up soon as well! Peep peep peep!! PS....maybe your red one is a Rhode Island Red?
ReplyDeleteYour post is so beautiful and has everything I love in life (missing food but ok) flowers, nature, birds, bunnies and a cute cat. Thank you
ReplyDeleteGreetings❤️.
I'm sorry you're having trouble with photos. That can be so frustrating! Loved your pics though, especially your critters. Baby chicks are always so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou have a menagerie of sweet pets. How lovely spring has arrived and little violets are popping up everywhere. Violets have the sweetest of perfumes.
ReplyDeleteWhey~Hey! Great post Henny...lots of animals,
ReplyDeleterabbits, pussy~cats and chicks...Oh! And Smokey! :).
And Willow..the new bunny...Bless!x
Were having heavy discussions over here at the
moment, every~ones up in the air, at the costs of
the vets bills...£240...$302.42..for a pack of Paracetamol,
and thousands for basic operations...Vets a making a
fortune, out of peoples sadness..hopefully, it will be
stopped...! :(.
Three old hens and a rooster made me chuckle, reminded
me of some of my old friends, nothing like an old rooster,
especially one with a very loud 'crow'...HeHe! :).
Well...coming up lunch time, l've plenty of belly~pork stew left,
but, l bought a couple fresh mackerel last Thurs, so, l shall enjoy
those with garlic bread, l bought a nice cottage loaf this morning,
couple of slices made up...job done...! :).

Hey Willie. I was afraid you had given up on my blogging and would not come back. Yep, three old hens and a rooster made me chuckle too. :) Everything is so expensive now!!!
DeleteGoodness me...NO! There's two Blog posts l always look forward to,
Deleteand that's yours and Julie's....
I think it depends what time of day you post, summat to do with the
time difference...5~6hrs...! Bless! :0).
Love the redbud. I have wanted to plant one here, so maybe it will happen this spring. Cute photos. Yes, spaying is expensive. I was told that male dogs cost $250 now-a-days for neutering. Everything is so expensive right now. Glad to see a post. Have a fantastic weekend.
ReplyDeleteWonderful spring and animal photos, Henny! Nice to see you blogging again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
As a fur lover, this was a great post! New bunny, welcome Willow. Good luck on the vet and the spay. My, I'm glad Precious is as old and already spayed as she is. Her annual visit to the vet is disgusting amount but necessary. Precious says she picked out Smoky in on whisker second. Glad to see you are all well. I am no fan of computer stuff so continued good luck on your photos and blog. Lynn and Precious
ReplyDeleteAww! I love all your sweet fur and feather babies! that ragdoll cat is gorgeous! Nice to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteHi there Henny! It's looking beautiful down there with the redbud blooming. We got hit with a big snowstorm yesterday so the view is white. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw Smokey. The ragdoll cats are beauties!
I'm always happy to see your posts. I love redbud trees, but don't see nearly as many of them as I used to. We have a couple of them, but one is about dead. I won't have it cut down though, because it's the birds' perch by my feeders outside the window. Willow is beautiful! Good luck with getting your pictures loaded where you want them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peg. I love redbud trees too. We have several along the dirt path. I don't blame you for not cutting down the one near the bird feeders. Good to hear from you.
DeleteSo happy that Randall Rabbit now has a friend! (Now wouldn't you love just one batch/litter? of baby bunnies, Henny?)
ReplyDeleteAnd Smokey looks so much like our feral cat, Shadow. What does he think of the baby chicks?
The little chicks are so cute and Willow is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are still have trouble with your photos. I take the pictures off my phone and put them on my computer with blue tooth.
Spring is popping out all over too.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy visits with your furry and fuzzy friends.
Your redbud tree is lovely. Ours just barely have buds showing, but it won't be long before they pop. I love all your animal pics. Willow is a beauty. The inside of her ear looks like velvet!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you. I am so ready for warm weather!
DeleteOh, my goodness. I just started reading the comments and read yours about Shelby. Be sure to tell her to be of good cheer, to take care, and get well soon. Spring is almost here and she will want to be up and baking and putting up jams and jellies.
ReplyDeleteThank you Victoria. I know! Hard to believe Shelby broke her hip...and I am the one with Osteoporosis. I've been very careful lately. She is getting along really well and tells me she will be driving in two weeks so we can meet for lunch. :) Hope so.
DeleteDanielle,
Thank you so much Danielle for such a nice comment.
ReplyDeleteOh, you have such lovely sweet animals!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy Spring Blog Post you have here. I love all of the animals..so beautiful all. Your new baby bunny, the chicks and then your adorable kittie relatives. :0) . I hope you are able to work out the spay for Willow, soon. Perhaps you would be able to drive down and drop her off at the clinic and then eat and thrift around awhile and then pick her up to go home. The last puppy we had spayed we were actually able to take her home very soon ..sooner than we were told for the pickup. This was at Central Spay Neuter & Wellness Center in Kernersville..quite near Greensboro. (if they do Rabbit care?). The phone is 336-723-7550, and we found their prices more reasonable than others and had no problems. Have a happy Spring and Blessed Easter. He is risen.
ReplyDeleteThe pet center you mentioned sounds like the one in Greensboro. $190.00 is not a bad price for spaying. I would have to have Willow there between 7:30 and 8:00 and then spend the day. Hopefully, I can do that. Thank you for the nice comment and information. I will out the place in Greenville.
DeleteHappy Spring, Henny Penny! Those rag dolls are so gorgeous -- my daughter has a pair also. Your new bunny is so pretty! Willow is a popular name these days :) I'm trying to get back to occasional, short blog posts. I don't have trouble with photos, but I have Google Photos. Do you? From my smart phone, the pictures automatically upload to Google Photos, and then it's so simple to go from a blog post and get them. I do hope your photo troubles are solved soon for you.
ReplyDeleteSO happy to see a blog post up from you, my sweet friend! Willow is a beauty for sure! Our Redbud has buds on it, but it's not been warm enough for enough days in a row for them to open up yet...but one day! It's right outside my kitchen window.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty redbud blooms! Your new bunny is so pretty! Soon you will have her eating out of your hand!
ReplyDeleteI love this post-full of fur and cuteness and lovely redbuds!
ReplyDeleteIts about time, Henny, we are lost without your post! You should know that. So sorry about Shelby but hope you will be up and about very soon. Your spring flowers are lovely, to say nothing of beautiful Willow and the chicks! Yes, the vet charges are outrageous, which is just awful. However, I would love to buy some aprons when you get around to that, just let me know. Email, call; here. I am sure that somehow you could probably take a picture with your phone and then send it to your computer but I am not sure on the logistics of that. Totally agree with the simpler days of camera that just docked and sent the photos!~ I am rambling, but miss your stories, so maybe you will find time to start that again soon! Sending love and Easter wishes! Terry
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and fun post with all your little farm animals. The little chicks and your big footed rabbit are so adorable. I have missed you and was wondering where you have been.. It certainly is difficult to have to change from the way you are so used to doing things. I've been there before and had to learn what seemed to be a more difficult way of posting or loading pictures. Love the beautiful daffodils. Happy Wednesday to you...
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see a boring post here! Love those ragdoll kitties..like you I so want to puck one up and cuddle it! Yes, seen the shadow kitty, but wonder if i would have noticed if you had not mentioned him. Love those baby chicks!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I visit your blog, I get this warm and cozy feeling. You have such a lovely home and surroundings.
ReplyDeleteLove all the furr and feather babies! The rabbits are too sweet!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
hugs
Donna
