until now, have I gone a whole month without publishing a blog post. Feels like starting all over.
So here's our little ole log cabin, not quite as deep in the woods as it once was...
down Henny Penny Lane where the two, not very bright, Guineas guard the place and compete with Eli and Ellie as to who can bark or scream the longest and loudest warning alarm for every thing that moves...
and the chickens, well we're down to one big feeling rooster and six humble hens and getting a few eggs every day...
The playhouse still stands but needs a good cleaning, especially the rusty contents of the "Old Motor Grader Road" museum...
and back in March I started vegetable seeds in the teeny tiny greenhouse that actually germinated and thrived and are now planted in the teeny tiny garden. Sorry I don't have a picture of the garden yet, duh, how slack of me. I will be back with one.
Can you believe single garden plants, even at Walmart this spring are close to $5.00 a piece! I had to start seed. Could not afford to spend that much on plants. Remember back when you could buy a six pack of vegetable plants for 3.99?? Boy have things changed!
Oh, I do have a picture of the rose bush Andee gave me for Mother's Day three years ago. It grows in a pot inside the garden gate. It bloomed beautifully this Mother's Day...
Doing fine also are Rosie the goat, Miss Ducky, and Randall Rabbit. Guess my best news today is to tell you that our sweet Ellie is doing well. We still have vet appointments with blood work and pills to take twice a day but she is like her old self again, maybe even better...
Here are Eli and Ellie early this morning...
So if I still have a few friends out there, thank you for looking in. Oh my gosh! Smokey will never forgive me. I've forgotten him. Let me find a picture to add before he reads this post...
Love, Henny
Hi Henny, I was getting a bit worried about you all! Glad to hear everyone is good. Flowers and veggie plants are such a crazy price here too. I have put off buying any annuals yet. Half of my veggie garden is planted with seeds already and are growing well. Ah, look at Smokey, such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteTake care.❤️
Thank you Robin. Glad your seeds are growing well. My beans are up and growing. :)
DeleteI love seeing your beautiful home and all the ways you have made it unique! I would be so comfortable there and would love to meet your pets!
ReplyDeleteAm always happy to see your posts, Henny! And love all the pics... would have loved to see one of Randall Rabbit too. BTW, I think we have the same shams on our bed that you have on that sofa (except ours are blue). And yes, we're finding starting plants as well as everything else is a bit more than we want to pay. I see something I like, read the price, and say 'no way... are they crazy?'
ReplyDeleteWell...l was slowly going through the post...
ReplyDeleteAnd kept saying to myself..."Where's Smokey"
"Where's Smokey"...As l've had a bit of a day

Oh Willie I know about those old phones. Just this year I switched from an old flip phone to an iPhone. Poppy stuck with a flip phone. I'm learning a little at the time. Oh gosh 172 contacts to enter! You'll be busy. Noah! You are so funny! Appreciate your comment.
DeleteIt was so good to hear from you Henny and catch up on all of the animals around your place. The news about Ellie is wonderful to be sure. Everyone looks so happy and content around your sweet log cabin. I always enjoy visiting you and Poppy around your place. I know that life gets busy and sometimes it's hard to find time to write a post. We'll be here and waiting when you have time. Since our move last week, (and before with preparing), I didn't write for awhile either. It was such a fast move, less than two weeks, but we're settled and content now and hopefully it will be our last move. We would have preferred a log cabin like your's but life is what it is!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Friday my friend.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
Henny, you just have to post more! That's all there is to it! I so look forward to your posts, so glad this is here showing us large lovely doggos resting away while their Mom works. I know life is too full and busy at times, but I love seeing your homestead and its lovely little playhouse. You must show the green house sometimes and I am looking forward to hearing about jams and jellies and canning, etc. I hope all is well with you, I know we have all had our losses these past few years so I feel that. Enjoy the most beautiful of springs and hope to hear from you soon! Looking forward to seeing what kind of aprons will appear.. Love Terry
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Terry. Bet spring time is beautiful up in the mountains where you are. I'm selling at a farmer's market tomorrow. Will take pictures so I'll have something more to post. L) Love Melba
DeleteLove seeing your post pop up Henny, I was thinking you must be staying very busy π
ReplyDeleteHappy to learn that Ellie is doing much better, and all of your fur babies are thriving and doing well.
I never tire of seeing your beautiful cabin and home, it's a little piece of paradise.
Hugs,
Jo
Precious send a purr to Smokey. And we are enjoying the livestock photos, lol. I know, I would not buy marigolds or zinnia plants this year. My seedlings are going slow as the ground is too cold. Had frost Thursday morn! My patio pots had to be covered and they are slow going too. Looks lovely down your way.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are all doing well. Be safe and God bless.
ReplyDeleteA lovely visit with you at your beautiful cabin, so cozy.
ReplyDeleteI truly understand how fast time flies when one isn't posting on their blog. So glad to hear things are okay with you and that Elli is getting along well. I think we were all getting a little worried there...
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you post again dear Henny & I find the weeks & months can slip by very quickly. Blogging should be about "when you can": & never a chore. I am pleased to see everyone is looking well at Henny Penny Lane & I hope you are too. Xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh so nice to see a post from you and to catch up on the animals. So happy that Ellie is doing better. Love your cabin in the woods. Have a wonderful weekend, and please not so long between posts. :)

ReplyDeleteTake Care,
Kaye
Thank you Kaye. I appreciate your comment.
DeleteWell hello! It's good to see all of you again!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I am so happy to see your post! I was starting to worry, friend! I really enjoyed reading all about our fur-friends and those sweet feathered ones, too! I love your beautiful home and all the plants! H
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from you again, especially since I was worried about Ellie. This is a busy time of year, I know. I'm happy to hear that Ellie and your other critters are doing well, and hope that you and Poppy are, too. That rose bush Andee gave you sure is a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteYhank you Peg. It's so good to hear from you!
DeleteIt's good to have you back again with a little catch-up. The rose bush is just beautiful. What kind is it, hope it is a rebloomer---it's too pretty to just have one go-around. Good to know that things are going well for all of you.
ReplyDeleteHey Victoria! Thank you. I can't remember the name of the rose. Maybe I can find the tag. I know I saved it. I love how the rose blooms change colors...there's pink, orange, and red.
DeleteNice to know all is well on Henny Penny Lane. The animals all look fine and that rooster is quite handsome.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the cost of little plants. It's outrageous. Have a lovely weekend. Granny M
Nice catch up. I'm so glad Ellie is doing better!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your neck of the woods! Your home is beautiful, and so are the plants and all the critters.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm SO glad Ellie is doing better!
ReplyDeleteLove your potting "shed" set up! Cute..
hugs

Thank you for stopping by and commenting about the crochet washcloth. You most certainly can learn to make these. This is all the same stitch throughout, DC double crochet. The link provided give a tutorial you could follow along with, or you could just leave out the spaces and make solid ( smaller) washcloths. Give it a go!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed the review of your cozy home and all who live there! It's looking good, the rose is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see your blog today. I have missed your posting and pictures.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Henny! Always so good to see you posting here. Everything is looking ducky at your place...I especially love your rose bush that's blooming....wow! So glad that Ellie is feeling well again. Glad you started your plants from seeds...those prices are ridiculous. Take good care. Love you guys!

DeleteGood Sunday Morning from me! I am glad to see your post and know that all is well with you and all. your 'babies'. Your home just makes me feel nostalgic for a simpler way of life. You are blessed to have such a sweet corner of the world. Have a blessed Sunday and upcoming week. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWe are in the Nursery Business.. and even I can not believe the huge increase in pricing of plants and garden plants. Wow. Everything looks so pretty around your place. Smart of you to get those seeds going...
ReplyDeleteVery nice to see yall are doing well and your sweet animals and beautiful home are all good.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chi Chi Mum. Good to hear from you!
DeleteI just wanted to say hi, it’s been awhile since I caught up with your posts, and I’m happy that both dogs are good now and you and Poppy are still working like “kids”!
ReplyDeleteHello Henry! So happy everything seems to be going well at Sunny Henry Penny Lane! I’m always with you, but have trouble posting commentsπ€·π»♀️I’m no computer expert and haven’t been able to figure out why I can’t post comments. I love your site and also anything with your sweet Lynn❤️Hope to see you here again soon. And hope I can get this comment to postπ₯°
ReplyDeleteThe above post is from Darlene from Calif! Not sure why it’s Anonymousπ€·π»♀️But again love your site! Your pets are beyond wonderful! Glad you’re still friends with Smokey! Lol
ReplyDeleteHi Henny! I love your house. It's so cozy, I would love to live in a log house. Maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteAre plants really that expensive? I have a feeling I might come home with far less than usual, too!
Take care, sweet friend!
So good to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteI was a bit worried about you.
Your right about the prices of plants.
I almost fainted when I saw small butterfly bushes at the nursery for 45 dollars. So I did some cuttings and they are doing fantastic.
This year I bought no plants.
I did seeds and cuttings.
It's all doing beautiful.
This is the first time I've ever
Grown from only seed.
Eli and Ellie are so beautiful.
Don't stay away so long!
Hello, Henny. No fear -- it's okay to take a wee break! Glad you both, and your animals, are doing well. I'm very lax about blogging these days, and not feeling guilty :) take care.
