down Henny Penny Lane where the goldenrods grow and the acorns fall...
What a beautiful, beautiful Fall season this has been, and still is. Why, the leaves have just begun to turn...
and I can't resist picking a few goldenrods, especially the tall ones that lay over in the path...
Poppy says he's never seen this many acorns on the ground, and I've never seen so many hickory nuts. With the price of groceries these days, we probably, like the squirrels, should be gathering and storing for winter.
Rarely do we have both September and October filled with cool crisp mornings, blue skies, and fall like days...it has been wonderful.
I came upon a quote that pretty much describes my feelings...
"I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house." - Nathaniel Hawthorne
and then there is Randall Rabbit, more sweetness to keep me out of the house and away from the computer...
We've added panels to his house to make it cozy and protect from the cold winter winds...
and using two big old flower tubs, cut a piece to make a bench. Randall likes me enough now to jump on the bench beside me...
Look, I think he has grown, don't you? This picture was taken a few minutes ago when I carried him an apple peel and kale leaf...
I would have deleted the earlier picture of Randall but have you noticed how deleting a picture will throw everything in the post out of whack? Well, it sure does.
We also added anther large roof piece to the top. I caught Randall trying to jump up on top of the cage! What a fall that could have been.
The overhang keeps him from jumping up. Well, I didn't want to over do and keep you here too long, that is if you are still here.
But I do want to show you these sky pictures. These were taken from the front porch the night before Hurricane Ian blew through here...
Love, Henny
Randall looks like he is getting ready for winter, too! You all be safe and God bless, Henny.
ReplyDeleteHi Henny! Randall is looking happy and healthy.
ReplyDeleteLots of acorns here too.
Those sunset photos are amazing!
Some of these NC sunsets in the last few weeks have been absolutely stunning, haven't they? Such colors! Your sweet bunny is amazing. His ears are adorable! You've certainly made him a safe, cozy home. He'll love it there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Randall has you well trained already!
ReplyDeleteThe sunset picture is totally gorgeous. You should get some photographic paper and make a copy of that and frame it. It's just too pretty to leave sitting in your computer! It needs to be hanging on your wall.
Randall is such a beautiful rabbit. He looks so soft and petable. Is that a word? I'm glad you watch over him so well. Your sunset photos are also very beautiful. I always miss you when you don't post, but I certainly understand how life gets busy and time is hard to find.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Things are looking pretty grand on Henny Penny Lane these days. So nice to hear of the beautiful weather you've been having. And I love those pics of that big bunny of yours. You sure are taking good care of him! Hope your weather continues to be great. Take good care, dear Henny. Luv U

ReplyDeleteSorry Henny, you can delete my first comment, for some reason it showed up as Anonymous!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteRandall, he's such a handsome boy, and getting so big.
ReplyDeleteOur first frost is predicted mid week, time to get busy with all those garden chores before winter sets in.
Hugs,
Jo
Fall/Autumn over here is a bit behind, the leaves
ReplyDeleteon my Virginia Creeper are just starting to turn red
and brown...though none fallen off yet..!
Randall is certainly growing, look at the size of his
ears, if they get any bigger, you'll have to built him
a runway...! HeHe! Bless him..! :)x
The last three pics look a bit special..and eerie...
I've never understood why they give hurricanes
names, first a boy, then a girl..weird..!
At least they blow themselves out at the end of it
all...! And, the mess they leave behind..! :(.
Best get on...lemon tea called for...few bits and
pieces to get into...Woman's work is never done....!
And the sun's out in all it's glory...And quite warm..! :).

I definitely love seeing how big Randall is growing up to be. His cage should be a good thing for this winter. Up here we've had multiple Frost already. And some sunny days but also some extremely high wind out of the North days. My flowers are gone for the year and that breaks my heart for color. And some of our trees are completely there. We have lots of acorns this year, but out of our four walnut trees only one had nuts this year and the squirrels are going crazy over them. Glad you had some good weather down there for a change. Lynn and Precious XX
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you Henny- Randal is certainly a very nice Rabbit- glad your looking after him. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteYou're having a beautiful autumn there. I just adore Mr. Randal! He looks very content there. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteRandall Rabbit is a handsome boy. Love seeing pics of him. I actually saved one of his pics to send to my daughter who also loves rabbits!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting some fall color, but they are predicting snow of all things. Yes, I am storing up food for winter. I'm working on my dry handmade mixes this week.
ReplyDeleteThe sky pictures are amazing!! So is your weather which is much like ours. We're enjoying such a warm October breaking previous records.
ReplyDeleteRandal Rabbit is getting so big. Years ago we had a children's book called Huge Harold about a rabbit that kept growing until he was as big as a grown man. Unfortunately he was hunted and had to hide in order to stay alive.
Keep enjoying your Fall weather. Granny Marigold.
Love the quote - it is so true. Enjoy your autumn as long as it lasts :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Randell is getting big!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky.
Fall is such a pretty time of year.
The leaves have peaked here this past weekend and now a lot of the leaves are coming down in the wind. I think this years colors have been the best in many years!!!
Such a cute bunny and it looks like he will be cozy all winter! You have some very pretty Fall colors!
ReplyDeleteOur red skies are from wild fire smoke. The air has been unhealthy again, but we might get our first real rain in months this weekend. Most of us are happy about that.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet Randall is! He looks so incredibly soft! I'm glad he is comfortable enough to sit next to you on the bench! I love your sky pictures! Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRandall is such a cutie and what a sweet home he has. It’s a big acorn year here, too. Which is nice for the squirrels who are having a banquet out there. We don’t get fall colors here until December so I am looking forward to the beauty coming up on Henny Penny Lane. And OH WOW, I must mention that fiery sunset! It’s gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall! Its very cool here today at about 38 Ms Henny Penn! Randall has grown a lot! He has a wonderful home with all those different places to sit and look out. He is very beautiful and healthy. The sky was really reddish that day wasn't it, almost dark when Ian blew through. Thank goodness he is gone! Enjoy the wonderful fall, Henny, it is really beautiful weather and all the nuts to be had for winter! XO Terry
ReplyDeleteHello Friend, thank you for sharing Randall with us. My mom would like a Randall. I should get her a big bunny for Christmas, what a surprise that would be.
