Why it's hard...

getting from room to room in our house. Here's going from the living room down the hall to the bedrooms...

so you get what you need and turn around to go back...

I'm just hoping, as I step between feet and legs and over heads, that one of them don't jump up, throwing me head long into living room.

and try getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom...

and feel your way across this length of dog train.

Anyhow, going from the dining room into the living room, the only way through unless you go out the front door, around the house, and come in the back door...

and just try sitting in one of the living room chairs...

oh wait! I left out the teeny tiny sewing room...

and a few more feet to step over...

Smokey says he feels a little safer in a corner...

or way up high on the bed...

Poppy is always asking, why can't you dogs find some place to lay besides in a doorway?

How bout here? Is this better?

Oh, but it is all so worth it...like living with two big teddy bears and we wouldn't have it any other way.

I first posted about my ball of string way back in 2013...

and here it is today...

Dumb me for not measuring the ball so I could tell you just how much it has grown...but that's me! This is every string of every, well almost,  off every bag of animal feed we've open since 1989. Anyhow, it's so big I can hardly hold it in one hand and wrap another string with the other hand. Very interesting stuff, I'm sure. :)

Okay, I must move on. Have Line Dancing class at 2:00 today at the Senior Center. I haven't mentioned it to anyone...but friends, it's the most fun thing I've done in 30 year!

Sure appreciate your visiting!

Love, Henny

  1. Those dogs are so funny! I can see that moving around would be an issue sometimes. :)
I love your big ball of string!

  2. Dance your heart away! Bet no large fluffy dogs are at the center of it all there. Poor Smokey, at least he's of a color to show against all that white fluff. You could take up candle wicking embroidery in all the spare time you absolutely must have, lol.

  3. They are BIG dogs and do take up a lot of space. :)
Cool to have that big ball of string.

    1. Thank you ChiChi Mum. Little Chihuahas are so cute. I would be so afraid of stepping on one of them. I did used to have a two pound poodle. He was adorable.

  8. Wow....I would be scared to get up at night and try to get to the bathroom without tripping over somebody. You must be so good at it by now. I'm glad you haven't broken a leg or anything, falling. Because then you couldn't go to LINE DANCING CLASS! Wow....how fun. I wish you had a video of all of you line dancing. I'd love to see it. I always wanted to square dance....so I bet line dancing is a barrel of fun! Good for You Henny. When is Poppy going to join you? :) I did take tap dancing a long while back and that was fun. So proud of you! Love, me

    1. Hey Diane. I've about gotten used to stepping over them. But I do make sure to keep one hand on the dresser as I cross over. :) I never thought about going to the senion center for any thing. My neighbor and I were looking over their monthly newsletter and saw the line dancing on Tuesdays. I really want to get a picture and do a post about it but so far haven't had the nerve to ask if anyone would mind. It is so much fun! My neighbor Carla said, well if this is the most fun you've had in 30 years then you're not getting out enough. Love you!

  9. I remember taking a line dancing class and enjoying it so much. It's good exercise too. I sure hope you don't trip over one of those lovable fur babies. They take up a lot of floor space wherever they lay down.

    1. Oh Willie, no comment about Line Dancing! You should see all us dancing to Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus!! It is a sight to behold. :) I know, you don't like country music...and I don't care for the new country music either. Hope you get the rain on Saturday. Christmas!! You're right, it will be here before we know it! Thank you for your comment! They always brighten my day.

  11. Ha, ha, loved this post. It's the same way at our house, but with smaller obstacles - four cats. The biggest problem is that they all don't understand why Dan and I can't see in the dark and step on them sometimes at night.

  12. I love the pictures you paint with words, my friend. I LOVED reading this post. I'm glad you are enjoying your line dancing class!

  13. Two things, Henny. First, your pics made me laugh as the nurses are always asking the question at our wellness visits, "Are there any things in your house that you could trip over?" We always used to answer... "just the cats". And since our Ghost was a grey cat and loved to sleep on the grey carpeted stairs, we were always afraid someone would either step on her or trip over her. At least Eli and Ellie are white.

  14. Your ball of string reminds me of my father's rubber band ball. And the pictures of your dogs remind me of the time friends came to visit with their Great Pyrenees who was tall enough to inspect our kitchen counter with all four feet on the floor.

  15. I love all of the pictures of your sweeties. They are so adorable and cuddly looking. Stepping over them could be dangerous but still so worth everything. I sure love them. :-) Smokey is a very brave kitty.
That ball of string is wonderful. SO big and indicative of how much you love animals.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  16. And Roger thought our cats were bad! LOL But I would gladly put up with those two!

I have never started a ball of string, but you would not believe how many times I have thought about it. We no longer have anything that opens with a string. My mom kept all string like that, then when she was putting a quilt in the fames, she used it to baste the backing of the quilt to the frames. I never see string from a bag that I don't think of that.

  17. Sure love your post today! The Pet Poses have me grinning from ear to ear because I know exactly what you are talking about :)

  18. Your sweet pets are so pretty! Look at all that fluff :) I do worry about falling. I worry about my mother and her lively Corgi. She's frail and holds onto furniture as she walks around. Oh, well -- for her, life would not be worth living without a dog!!

  19. Oh, Henny I so get this. Although our pooch doesn't take up quite as much space, but nevertheless, he always manages to be very close, and nightime trips to the bathroom are challenging. He is at least cream colored so I can see him, but he will jump up sometimes so I have to be very careful. I must hold on to furniture. Line Dancing....how fun.

  20. They want to be everywhere you are. Beautiful dogs! I can see they are spoiled and the kitties too. They just love you so much.
I wish I could do line dancing. So great you are able to. One of my knees needs I think sooner than later a replacement. I had it done on my right knee and now the left is getting bad. My brother and sister in law love line dancing. When my brother played music with his band they always had a line dance before the night was over. So much fun every one had.

  21. That’s so funny! I’ve fallen over our dog in the dark soooo many times. Fortunately I’ve never hurt her but it’s a miracle I haven’t. Line dancing looks like so much fun. If I were there, I’d join you!

  24. Line dancing is such a fun thing! Enjoy yourself! How sweet to see all of your cozy pets enjoying the comfort of home! If you did trip over them, they look fluffy enough to land on!

  25. Hi Henny, I just loved this post, it was so cute.
I enjoy line dancing too. Have fun! :-)

  26. I used to line dance with the girls when they were in high school...great fun! Chance used to lay down in the middle of the kitchen every night! Your dogs are beautiful!

  27. Henny, I am so glad you are out dancing! Sounds like fun. Well, I love your big dogs your home is more of a home with them, I'm sure. They are nothing but 100% love and you can't say that about many things. Hope your weather is better, ours is very very wet but it is also more fall than summer even with the 80 degree temps. That string ball might need a wheelbarrow to haul before long. Enjoy the day, thanks for the beautiful doggie post Terry

  28. This post had me smiling all the way to the last word and photo! Lovely that you are dancing! Maybe you could dance over the dogs!

  29. Oh my I can see what a huge challenge it is to get down your hallway, and even find a place to sit. Yes and Yes they are certainly worth it though friend. Eli and Ellie are clearly the most loved pooches (teddy bears)! Poor Smokey looks like he doesn't have it so bad sleeping on a bed or in a soft spot in the corner. Thanks for making my day and giving me a great smile. Hugs!!

  30. Oh my Aunt Henny Penny!! I love that you are doing line dance classes!! This is awesome. I love all your fur babies laying everywhere in the house. Mattie Ross is so small you have to watch not to step on her. I Love you bunches Vicki

  31. I feel your pain -- similar situation in our house. And I say the same prayer as I step over them. "Please don't get up and throw me way way off balance".
