Hey friends,
Thought I would check in and say, I am still blogging. Gosh, have you ever felt like someone pulled the plug on your life as you've always known it and plugged you into some strange other life?
Well, I need to find my way out of this strangeness! This shoulder pain, pinched nerve, neck pain, needs to go!
So I think this pinched nerve has become nerve damage. During the night, of course, when shoulder pain is worse, my left arm aches from my shoulder down through my fingernails and I cannot close my hand. Is this serious? Should I worry? I see another doctor today at 1:30.
What a difference a few new panels made in the teeny tiny greenhouse...
Wednesday was a nice day with sun and warmer temperatures so we finished. Work on anything is slow going these days. Thankfully, Poppy is helping me with the yard work...leaves that haven't been raked since fall of 2021. :( Will I ever get well and catch up???
Anyhow, look at this...
It feels brand new. My playhouse may not have a roof but the little greenhouse does and it is cozy inside.
Oh gosh, let me tell you a funny story, well, it could have turned out different and not been funny at all. For heat in the greenhouse I hung the old heat lamp with the red bulb, the one we used raising baby chicks and guineas. Poppy said he didn't see any harm as long as I had it clipped securely and it wouldn't fall. I did!
About a week ago Poppy left for work before daylight. He called me and said, Mel, when it gets light you need to go check on the lamp in the greenhouse. Looks like it has fallen and is on the floor. The greenhouse floor is made of small white rocks, so probably no harm done.
When it was light outside I walked to the greenhouse and immediately could smell an awful burning smell. Panic swept over me! There, resting inside my largest green plastic flower pot which contained potting soil and a plastic scoop was the burning red heat lamp. There was a hole the size of a soccer ball, burned in the side of the pot and the plastic scoop had melted down to a nub.
I unplugged the lamp and pulled all the hot mess outside to cool off. Poppy has since installed a metal hook which holds the lamp secure!! :)
In my last post I showed a picture of a bush near the driveway with three or four pretty red Cardinals. Well friends, a few evenings ago I carried a cup of birdseed out and spread it.
When I walked past the kitchen window I was shocked at the number of Cardinals...
of course, some flew when I held the camera to the window, but still! Not a very good picture. I was afraid Smokey would wander up and frighten them away.
Eli says he loves new friend Ellie, but there's just nothing like his big old sweet Teddy Bear...
Better get busy and find something to wear. Nothing fits anymore and besides that, nothing in my closet is in style anymore. I have nothing to wear! Just kidding, sort of. :)
Thank you friends. I sure needed to talk to you this morning. Hope to be back soon.
Love,
Henny
Comfort is more important than style.
ReplyDeletePraying for you, Henny. Hope the new doctor can help. God bless.
So sorry to hear you are battling pain. I hope your next dr. visit provides some answers and relief. I can't believe all those cardinals! That is amazing! -Jenn
ReplyDeletePraying for you for relief from pain and healing. Eli and Ellie look so snug sleeping behind the swing and the teddy bear pictures are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteDear Henny, I do hope you find answers to the pain problems. So difficult to live a normal life like that. And
ReplyDeletewith Spring coming too. I love your green house and the fact that I see no snow on your ground. I would love
to just see unraked leaves, lol. And the birds! So beautiful especially in the winter. Glad to know Eli has taken
to Miss Ellie. Take care and don't over work. Or get burned!
Yes, it's time to get more help for your awful pain. I'm glad you are seeing a doctor today, and they don't care what you wear as long as it doesn't get in the way of what they need to examine.
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to hear from you and your furry friends.
"...and I cannot close my hand. Is this serious?" Not sure, Henny, but it doesn't sound good. Be sure to tell the doctor this. As for the heat lamp incident, we use heat lamps (4) on the back porch for the ferals when the weather is below freezing. DH has them on hooks in the ceiling over a metal table and chairs the cats lie on. BTW, your dogs look so comfy lying there behind the swing! I would probably curl up with them too!
ReplyDeleteConstant pain is so debilitating, so I hope your new doctor has some answers for you. (My husband had constant pain for seven long years so I know how hard it is to live with)
ReplyDeleteOh, that heat lamp! I am glad it didn't do any more damage than it did.
Eli and Ellie look so cozy there on their porch beds, like they haven't a care in the world. What a great way to live :)
I am so sorry about all the pain you are still having. I'm glad you are seeing a doctor. Don't give up, maybe a specialist can help. Until they do figure something out to help you maybe they can send you to a pain clinic to get some help. I just hate to think of you in so much pain.
ReplyDeleteThe greenhouse looks great. It is amazing the difference those new panels make. I'm sure glad the fire wasn't worse than just one pot. That is scary! I always love to see Eli and his bear! They are just adorable together. They both sure do look happy on their beds. They are both such sweet dogs! Feel better Henny!
Eli is adorable dear Henny!! Look at that sweet face. I am so sorry to read of your ongoing pain- I do hope the new Dr can get to the cause of it for you & find some relief. Your new greenhouse looks wonderful - what a special place to spend time in. xx
ReplyDeleteYes, pain like that is serious...I so hope you get help soon. the longer it goes the more damage it can cause. I am not trying to scare you, yet, I wish you want you to see the dr. as soon as possible. That is not normal, add to the fact that I am pretty sure you are not one to complain over minor stuff...so know it is serious.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am glad there was no more damage from the eat lamp. I can imagine how you felt.
Eli and Ellie are the cutest dogs around...I would want to snuggle with them, too.
Hope you have good news when visiting the doctors. I wouldn't worry until you see what the doctor says. I know that is easy to say though.
ReplyDeleteWow so many cardinals!!
My but it's great to see a new post. I always love reading about your adventures although the fallen heat lamp could have been a lot worse. I'm sorry you have such pain. I hope the new doctor has some answers ( and can tell you what needs to be done to fix whatever it is causing the pain).
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one cardinal in my life and you have a flock of them right outside your window.
It sounds like Poppy is taking good care of you. Rest and get well again. gentle hugs ((()))
I understand what you are saying about pain changing your life. Been there and still am there.Im so sorry for your suffering.
ReplyDeleteBut it can improve, keep seeking an answer.
I love the Cardinals too.
They love the black oil sunflower seeds best.
As always Eli is so cute ! And cuddly looking. Elli is a beauty.
Keep us updated on your doctor visit.
Thank you Savannah. Oh gosh, sorry you are going through it too. I think there are lots of us dealing with pain. Hopefully after I get an MRI next week the doctor can find why I am having so much pain. Thank you for the nice comment.
DeleteYour greenhouse is looking good! I'm sorry about your pain though. I hope you got some answers today.
ReplyDeleteEli looks so cute with that Teddy bear.
Gosh Henny....sure hope that doctor helps you out with all the pain you're having. It sounds terrible. Doesn't your greenhouse look swell now and cozy! Sure glad you got that hot lamp out of there! I love the pictures of all the cardinals...wow! and also of Eli and Ellie sleeping in their cozy spots. So sweet of you to treat us to all these great pictures, when you're feeling so punk. Hope you can feel much better soon! Take good care!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane. You always leave the sweetest comments. Thank you for looking at my silly blog posts. :)
DeleteI sure hope the new doctor had some ideas for you today. I know what constant pain is like and it's no fun whatsoever. I'm so glad that Poppy noticed the light and called you. It could have been a much worse disaster. I'm happy you just lost a pot over it.
ReplyDeleteEli and his teddy looks so sweet together. It's so nice when they find the perfect toy for them.
BLessings and love,
Betsy

Hey Willie. No Priests or Bishops yet. You are so funny! There are so many people now with back and neck problems. I am going for an MRI next week. Maybe that will help the doctor take care of my problem. Sorry you are dealing with pain too. Take care. Thank you.
DeleteI feel so bad for you with your pain and prayers for comfort..there is so much pain with folks everywhere..(and not that we are ;0).... ...but that old saying, "getting old ain't for sissies" is so valid ..at least for me. Prayers for comfort and healing for you..so miserable and the cold weather surely doesn't help at all. :9( ... Eli and his Teddy are the cutest..both of your big babies are so beautiful. I know that heat on that plastic was very horrble and toxic..glad all ended well. Be blessed and hope the wonderful new greenhouse panels will make you feel better, too..
ReplyDeleteThat is so true! Had no idea getting old would bring on so much at once, but still, I'm so thankful to be here. Thank you for stopping by and for your comment.
DeleteSending hugs, please let us know what the next step is for your pain. That is no fun. My husband's co worker and dear friend has been going through similar issues.
ReplyDeleteI love cardinals.
I remember when we went to Fort Jackson to see Sam during is Basic Training Graduation, we saw a bunch of cardinals.
I am glad the greenhouse is doing well. ;-) What a story indeed!
Third try at posting here. I do hope that the Dr. had some useful information for you and can do something about all the paint you have been experiencing. It's especially hard when it interferes with you sleep-----being in pain and tired as well is not a good combination.
ReplyDeleteTake care, try not to worry and let us know what the Dr. comes up with. I do hope it is a solution!!!
Oh I'm sorry Vic. Glad your comment stayed this time. Going for an MRI next week. That should help find the cause of my pain. Are you excited about spring being near? I see lots of work in the coming days. :) I need to get well!!
DeleteHope you have good news or some solution at the Dr, it is no fun to be in pain:)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about you pain. I will be adding you to my prayer list for sure. I love all the red birds we had 8 pairs in the yard one day. I love you bunches Vicki
ReplyDeleteGet well soon! Hope they figure out what's going on and get you something to relieve the pain.
ReplyDeleteHi HENNY - Your Greenhouse looks terrific from the make-over. Hope you are feeling well soon. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteGod love you!! I just came home from church, wearing a skirt and sweater I wore to work in the 90's!!! I've stopped worrying about what to wear, I just "consider the lilies" and wear whatever fits. I'm on one of my larger sizes and must get back down because of my poor knees. I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry your shoulder problem hasn't been resolved. I'll pray for your healing, and for your doctors to know just what to do for you! God was watching out for you and the greenhouse! I hope that appointment was a good one!!! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose. I love your comment. Yes, "consider the lilies".
ReplyDeleteYour greenhouse looks great. Thinking of putting up one here on our homestead. What did you use for the panels and where did you buy them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh Judy, I hope you will check back once more. Sorry to be so late seeing your comment. We bought the little 6' x 8' greenhouse from Harbor Freight in 2011. Then they were $300.00. Now they sell for a little over 400.00. They come complete with frame, panels, and clips. We did buy 4' x 4' posts for the foundation and to bolt the greenhouse frame to. That makes it safe and sturdy. The little greenhouse comes with complete instructions. I have really enjoyed having it. Hope this helps. Thank you for your comment. Hope you will come back.
DeleteThank you do much for all the information. Were looking forward to putting one up. Have a great day
DeleteI am so sorry about all your pain and hope the new doctor had some answers for your. Has anyone suggested physical therapy? I only ask because they have helped me so much but I had to be the one to suggest trying it to the doctor each time. Eli is so cute with his new teddy bear and your green house looks great with the new windows. I imagine your are starting all sorts of little things for your garden this year. It was nice to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteOh -- DEAR HP :( I'm so so sorry about this arm/neck pain! That's absolutely horrible, and sleep is impossible :( I do hope you and your doctors can get to the bottom of this. We cannot have you out of commission!
ReplyDeleteYour greenhouse looks so cozy and lovely, a retreat in the cold months. Perfect! Eli and Ellie are so sweet.
Hi Penny, So sorry to hear about your shoulder. Father God, I ask you to bring healing complete healing to Penny's shoulder, arm, and hand by the power of the blood of Jesus shed for our sins and for our healing. Thank you Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many cardinals. It must have been a sight to behold.
Glad you didn't have a fire.
Hugs to you, Laura
I wonder if getting stretched could help your shoulder and arm/neck pain. It helped me very much. But I could afford only one session. I went to a D.O. and he had a machine that stretches you! I love your t-tiny greenhouse, but what a close call with that heat lamp and where it fell!
ReplyDeletegood move on seeing a doctor. Hope you will be feeling better soon. Shoulder pain I have had before and I know it's like a toothache it hurts so bad. Praying for you to feel better and soon. Your green house is wonderful and a good size. I would love one like you have. So glad you were home to take care of the light that fell in there.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about all your pain Henny! I do hope that you have been able to find some relief! Hot and cold ice packs sometimes help. Nerve pain though is rough! I'm glad your greenhouse survived the fall of the red lamp! And it looks great with the new panels. Blessings and prayers for you to feel better!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Henny! Glad you got your panels for your greenhouse and no harm done from the light! I always love the pictures of the animals, they know they are loved! Lastly, I had a complaint like yours from the neck and shoulder area that lasted 5 years, yes! I had it "cured" even with my degenerating neck from doing exercises with an over the door traction unit which "lifted" the pressure off the nerves and over time, it healed. I have pains on and off, due to my age of course, but I think there is hope yours could be alleviated. Keep us posted! Love and hugs
ReplyDeleteWell I'm so glad there wasn't more damage done with that heat lamp, Henny, that's scary! Love the greenhouse, it looks amazing, I would soooo love to have one......someday!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your shoulder pain. Sure hope you can get relief. The greenhouse is really nice. So glad no more damage was done when the heat lamp fell. Your dog sure is beautiful. Wishing you a speedy recovery from the pain.
ReplyDeleteomg!!! Love it and i also want one heheh your dog is also so cute <3
ReplyDeleteLoved your post and allready followed your blog, i want invite you to visit and follow my blog back <3

So sorry to read about the shoulder pain, hope you are pain free soon. Glad all was well in that beautiful greenhouse and not too much damage. The red cardinals were a delight to see, as were those dogs looking so rested in their cosy sleeping hideaway.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet post! I'm glad your greenhouse is ok. That would have been scary. I do hope your shoulder heals soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read about your shoulder pain! Have you looked up "frozen shoulder" on google? It has suggestions on how to prop up your arm to sleep so that you can get one to two hours of "healing sleep" which helps improve the shoulder pain situation. Good Luck!
