Hey friends,
We've got lots of rain coming in tonight and again tomorrow, 1 to 3 inches with a possible thunderstorm followed by a cold front and maybe snow flurries. How's that for a weather report?
Freezing cold weather will be hard to take after such a warm December. Why, at least two days recently it reached 76 and 77 degrees!
and that's why I've been in and out of the teeny tiny greenhouse so much lately...
Doing more playing than planting since the greenhouse is not heated. Been thinking about hanging the heat lamp, the one used for raising baby chicks. Wouldn't that work? The little milk house heater near the front door works great but uses way too much electricity.
Went to empty the compost yesterday and found the prettiest little cabbage plant growing, all warm and cozy inside the compost bin...
It had sprouted from a cabbage stalk. Just couldn't leave it so I dug it up and moved it to the greenhouse. Hope it lives.
Just for fun, let me show you the playhouse...
looking a little bare as I've moved many things into the greenhouse, but! Finally! a use for the long legged tower! The little sign reads, "Old Motor Grader Road Museum"...
As I said, "just for fun". I absolutely love playing with things like this. Poppy says, "why don't you get things fixed like you want them and leave it alone". Well, what fun would that be?
Let me show you what I spotted just across the road from the greenhouse and garden...
Yep, that's Poppy, looking out over the cut-over. Yesterday was the last day of deer hunting season for the year 2021 and I am so thankful! Hopefully, now, things will settle down around here...
Early one morning a few days before Christmas, Poppy left to go hunting. A few minutes later he called me and said, look out the window at the sky...
it was a beautiful sunrise...
A blessed New Year to you all, Henny.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you take time to play, in your playhouse and your greenhouse, and on your porch, and even in your sewing room. Your lovely spirit comes out in all of these things.
ReplyDeleteLove your playhouse and the way you've got it all set up. Poppy knows you well, as you love to rearrange and change things around. Wow...Poppy goes way up on the tree to check things out....he's braver than I would be. And you've got temps in the 70's and we have 5 to 10 below zero! Amazing all the different kinds of weather in this country of ours. Stay safe during storms and thank you for all the great pictures that you always post. Love that Ellie at the end too. Nighty night, Henny. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI think your little greenhouse is sweet, and love how you have your playhouse decorated with the antique pieces. I guess we are pretty much on the same weather system, rain today, and now snowing. We had our resident deer and turkeys in the yard today, twelve deer and eight turkeys, don't tell Poppy :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Blessed and Healthy New Year dear freind.
Hugs,
~Jo
I have always loved your Playhouse so much Henny! The long legged tower makes a great museum! The greenhouse is looking great too. Our weather has been just crazy here. Christmas Eve was in the 70s and broke all records here for warm weather in December. Then New Year's Eve comes along and the bottom fell out with temps down in the single digits, snow and ice. I woke up to 2 degrees F today so the snow is sure not going anywhere. This is more normal weather for us now but you sure don't know what to expect anymore, do you?! Take care Henny and enjoy that wonderful Playhouse!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight Ellie and Henny! Your little greenhouse is wonderful. I love it! Weather has been crazy everywhere. We've had the warmest December on record, but New Years Eve we had a freezing fog that wasn't predicted. It lasted all day long. What a mess of the roads that made. Then it snowed most of yesterday with 50+ mph winds. It's so cold. -12F last night and almost that cold tonight. It's a shock to the system. Such a change. I know it's normal but I still wasn't ready!
ReplyDeleteThat was a gorgeous sunrise. How nice of Poppy to call and tell you about it just because he knew you would love it. That's a man who loves you.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
We've been forecast snow/rain down south here for
ReplyDeletethe last few days, have'nt seen any yet, still
mild and quite warm..! :).
It's a Bank holiday Monday to~day, all closed,
though l expect the supermarkets will be open!
I'm staying home, bit more washing/ironing to
do..Then l'm ALL done! :)
The Greenhouse and Playhouse look nice and
homely..And..the little cabbage reminded me
of the film 'Little Shop Of Horrors'..I happen
to watch that..AGAIN..over Christmas..! :)
I'm always lost for words seeing Poppy up a tree,
someone should tell him, deer can't fly, you'll
find them on the ground..HeHe! Bless! :)

Awww - goodnight, Ellie!!
ReplyDeleteHP, I do love that window Christmas light you have, with the square Santa base. Where in the world did you find that? So cute.
Both your playhouse and greenhouse are so lovely. I long for a space like that here, but not quite yet. Too much work to do on this ratty old farm :) You now have a museum!!! Congratulations!
Henny, much more pleasant to see your warmer photos than the light snow I have, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be an abrupt change in the temps, for sure. Love the new shelving in
the play house. Stay warm. And hoping Dumperoo is doing OK. Lynn and Precious
Nice Christmas cactus!!! It sounds like your getting some nasty weather and it always feels worse after you've had some nice warm weather.
ReplyDeleteYOUR PLAYHOUSES LOOK GREAT! TELL POPPY THAT YOU CAN'T HELP ALL THOSE CREATIVE JUICES THAT RUN AROUND IN YOUR VEINS...IT HAS TO COME OUT......AND, GOOD FOR HIM, IT COSTS NOTHING! WHEN I SAW HIM IN THE TREE, IT REMINDED ME OF AN OLD SAYING: SIT DOWN AND LEAN BACK ON YOUR THUMB. THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE, JUST HANGING IN THE TREE ON NOTHING. BLESS YOU, SWEETIE!
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at the picture of your playhouse I immediately thought of Jeri Landers ( Hopalong Hollow). It's just like something she'd put together. I am sure looking forward to nicer weather. I'll be rearranging my garden shed too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! It will be spring before long in your neck of the woods, as we just begin to settle into the coldest months of winter. Love your little greenhouse!
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the greenhouse and playhouse. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope your weather is not too nasty.
Say Hi to Poppy!!
Fun post seeing the green house and the play house. I agree - it's fun to change things around - I do it all the time too. :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone's weather has been crazy this winter so far. We usually have a bunch of snow by now and we have none at all!!
So many things to like about this post. First, I think you should put a sign out by the road advertising the museum and charge people to come see the exhibits. That could be a good little money maker for you. Two I love, love, love the sunrise pic-----it's just beautiful and the reflections of the lamps and that chain hanging by the window frame just makes it more interesting. Third I got a good laugh out of Elle's good night picture---she looks all settled in for a long winter's nap.

ReplyDelete(¸.• (¸.•`Happy New Year!! I love your green-play-house! I think we can all use a place that's a quiet, and peaceful place all our own where you can dream and plan and play too! ❤
I love your pictures through the windows of the sunrise. I agree that leaving things the same trends toward a dull, boring life. That's a fun collection from Motor Grader Road! :~) Even Poppy has to like that one. I also got a smile from your comment on my post about Hubby's hanging out the wash. I had thought the same thing. A great post, Henny!
ReplyDeleteI like your little play house. I would be just like you, constantly moving things around. I know this is a sweet place that you can go to and just enjoy the surroundings. Our Texas weather is crazy as well.. 80's and then 20's. Enjoy your week and stay warm
ReplyDeleteI like your little greenhouse and playhouse. I too like to move and change things.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful sunrise!
Good night Ellie!
Happy New Year Henny! Oh Ellie...so adorable. I love your little greenhouse! The sky photos are so beautiful! I was also thankful when hunting season ended here in December. Too many people out and about for my liking!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so hot here that we could do with some of your cold weather! I had to laugh at your joy in moving things around as that is exactly what I love to do. Hubby used to complain he could never find anything because I was always finding new "homes" for different things. I used to move furniture around as well, but not so much these days.
ReplyDeleteStay dry and warm :) xx
Your blog is always such a lovely place to visit. Keep up the good work in 2022!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful decorating reminds me of what I have seen on your daughters YouTube channel. I love both so much! I am looking at your dolls, as they are right beside the comment box. They are so adorable! I love them!
ReplyDeleteHow kind of you to rescue a wee cabbage plant!
Ellie is a beautiful dog. I love the awesome sunset through the window. Your green house is really nice. What a wonderful place to stay on cold winter days.
ReplyDeleteHi Henny! I love the playhouse!
ReplyDeleteBet your cabbage plant will flourish under your loving eye. Love your playhouse. It looks like the perfect spot to sit and dream about the coming spring. Hope you have a wonderful start to January. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your posts so much, dear Henny! Glorious sunrise view from your window, so wonderful to see the beauty in the skies! And I love to putter in my greenhouse too, although mine is completely covered in snow at the present. We've had a real winter here. I like moving things around and changing things up, it's fun to me too! You're not alone ;) Goodness Poppy, what is he doing up in that tree, that scares me to see him there! I know folks here who do it, but usually much younger folks! Hopefully he was successful and got a deer for the freezer! Blessings to you Henny, and wishes for God's best in this new year!
ReplyDeleteAwww, Mama, everything is so beautiful! And LOL -- you said "what fun would that be?" Right?!!! I know. We have to keep rearranging, and buying, and re-figuring. I love you so much! I have to see you soon. Maybe the end of the week? Love always, your troublesome gur, who always made messes with giblets of paper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie.
