I can't possibly begin this post with a picture of what I want to talk about. It is way too filthy!
I should be ashamed to post something this dirty.
It's the ceiling fan on that high ceiling in the living room. I'm fixing to climb a ladder and clean it.
Filthy! and this is the very ceiling fan that Poppy looks at and says, "I don't see any dust". Well, he IS waiting for a call from the eye place saying his new glasses are ready.
Tell me how this much dirt and dust collects on an object that spins. This fan runs almost non-stop.
Mama would have disowned me.
a late afternoon picture taken when the sun was low and shining through the trees onto this pink rose bush. It was so bright, you can hardly tell the roses are pink.
Thank you for looking in. Oh, and here's how that ceiling fan looks now...
and I didn't get dizzy or fall off the ladder or any of that stuff. Think Poppy will notice?
Love,
Henny

Those ceiling fans do get full of dust. I've been forbidden by my family to climb a ladder or stand on a chair so I wait for my 6 ft something son to clean mine. Yours is sparkling clean now.
ReplyDeleteI see your Day Lilies are starting to bloom. Mine too!!
We have one of those too! You have to wonder how the dust sticks to the underside. Ours, we can see the top side as we look down from the room above. One of those things you suddenly notice right before your guests arrive;-) I doubt Poppy will notice!
ReplyDeleteI have a swiffer on a really long pole to clean mine!! Ours is on all the time upstairs:)
ReplyDeleteIt is surprising how quickly dust accumulates. Now I must go check our fan!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure glad you cleaned away all that "filth" and that you didn't fall off the ladder. I stand on the cedar chest at the end of the bed to clean the fan and that is tricky enough but a gal's gotta clean what a gal's gotta clean! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing where all the dust comes from, our ceiling fan does the same, a filthy dust magnet. You did a fine job cleaning your up.
ReplyDeleteSweet pups, they look like they are the best of friends.

No, I don't think Poppy will notice. I probably wouldn't, either. The previous owners of our house had 2 cockatoos with a big birdcage for each. The cages were in what we call the sunroom, our favorite room in the house. It has a vaulted ceiling with a fan hanging down on a pipe. Luckily we moved in the fall and didn't need the fan. Before it got hot my husband noticed a pile of white feathers on top of that fan, probably a good inch high. The rest of the house was spotless, but they forgot to clean the fan and we didn't notice for months. We did have to have the air ducts cleaned because we had downy feathers floating in the air when the furnace ran. I guess they never used the fan or those feathers couldn't have piled up so high, could they? I just got a microfiber dusting kit with a long extension handle so I can clean it standing on the floor. ReplyDeleteGirl, you are pushing your luck climbing ladders, an accident waiting to happen. My sister-in-law wanted to clean her ceiling fan so she sat a chair in the middle of the bed and climbed on it. Next thing she knew she was on the floor in pain from hitting the edge of the dresser with her rib area. That's what you call dumb and stupid. After all these years I finally bought a duster with a telescoping handle, wonderful. Cleaned ceiling fans around here yesterday, with my feet on the floor.
ReplyDeleteWe have a fan in our bedroom every night, and the dust builds up very quickly! Yours looks spotless now. Love the photo taken in low light xx
ReplyDeleteMy ceiling fan doesn't get cleaned as much as it should either. No way will I climb a ladder. I have a long handled duster thingy that I use. Be careful, Henny!!
ReplyDeleteYou need to look after yourself better not climbing ladders to clean. I must admit it does look a whole lot better. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm relieved you didn't fall off the ladder!
ReplyDeleteOn those home shows I see rooms with 20 foot ceilings and wonder if anyone ever cleans them. Or maybe that's the secret - they're so high up no one sees the dirt.
Our fans and blinds are due to be cleaned. I thought about it today and now that I see yours, I'm feeling guilty! Oh, well, I'll get around to it!
ReplyDeleteNo, he won't notice, until you tell him. Some things are just more important to some than to others. Good job on that fan, and on staying safe. I'm sure I have some very dusty stuff above the kitchen cupboards, but I don't see it.
ReplyDeleteI remember thinking that dusting was a ridiculous chore when I was a child. Now, I think I lose track of time and before I think of it, there is a thick coat of dust on lots of things. Boo!
ReplyDeleteHappy day, good Henny!
Thank goodness Mac cleans the ceiling fans, they're too high for me.
ReplyDeleteI've been known to let the dust collect on those fans too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if Poppy's glasses are super good, he will notice! lol Our fans get the same way. I love that spot of sun on the roses. It is a JOY to visit with you here. Have a lovely eve.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you just need to turn up the speed on the fan, Henny. lol
ReplyDeleteLoL...I love that you keep your post real! I said, just today, that my fans in the kitchen sure needed to be cleaned! Thanks for the reminder because I had already forgotten!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace
Your fan looks great now! I think my hubby needs new glasses too!! Nancy
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why do ceiling fans catch so much dust? Mine runs a lot and gets so dusty. Hope all is great around your neck of the woods. Love you bunches!
ReplyDeleteStatic electricity seems to build up on ceiling fans and collect the dust. At least that's my story.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, thanks to you......I feel much better! I thought I was the only one who's ceiling fan got dirty! Now I am so relieved! Actually, there was a ceiling fan in the kitchen of our home.......our home is a 1903 bungalow and the ceiling fan was a 1970s plus it did not work. I wanted it gone from the moment I saw it. Finally, we found the most beautiful vintage looking light for the kitchen.......which also puts out great light to see with and that dirty ceiling fan is gone! Yours looks great now by the way! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI doubt if Poppy will notice that you cleaned the ceilging fan. Husbands only seem to notice what wifie doesn't get done, not what she has done!
ReplyDeleteShirley H.
I was doing some spring cleaning yesterday, also....and thinking how I really need to have someone come in once a month to clean all the stuff I don't get to regularly! Oh, and I need to hit the lottery also. :)
ReplyDeleteDang be CAREFUL UP ON THOSE LADDERS!! I dont see how those fans get so darn DIRTY BUT THEY DO!! the last place we lived we had them and seems they just attracted dirt and dust and hair.....our fans ran all the time tho.
ReplyDeleteThey just collect dust!! I know how clean you are! Love you Mama!!
ReplyDeletehaha. you'd think men would notice, but it's always left to the womenfolk as my grandma use to say. The first picture I'm imagining are two of the culprits responsible for some of that dust.
