Gardening, and a little row of dogs too

Oh my goodness! Two new followers. Thank you, Pelinpembesi and L. McKnight! That is such a nice surprise. I feel like my posts get sorrier and sorrier...

but I do still love blogging and love and appreciate my blogging friends.

There is simply no end to the work around here. Seems lately, half my time is spent mowing since Poppy is tied up with turkey hunting. I've also got the garden planted.

The garden is not all that great yet but here are a few pictures...
outside the teeny tiny garden, looking in

inside the teeny tiny garden, looking out

Along the fence line are zinnias, cosmos, asters, and a few sunflowers seeds planted, and the tall green plants up at the far end are red potatoes.

Along that wattle fence, "my little wattle fence", which this year happens to be the best one I've built; the half-runner green beans are growing. I'm proud of that wattle fence. Real proud.  :)

and next to the green beans are tomato plants and three sage plants, still so tiny you can hardly see them.

and there goes Poppy up the road. He did stop and speak. He's pretty disgusted with turkey hunting this season. No turkey yet. Thank goodness we are in the last week of the season. Maybe life can get back to normal next week.

anyhow, that empty row next to the tomatoes is planted with big ford hook lima beans, and two eggplants. Then another row of half-runner beans, a different variety...

and the last row is half stir-fry broccoli and half peppers. Then along the fence line is okra and onions, and in the half barrel way up in the corner I've planted little leaf cucumbers.

Also down near the garden gate are three zucchini and three yellow squash plants.

meanwhile, back at the playhouse; I've simply got to get all those Iris divided and re-potted.

this one was so pretty.

a new little friend.

Smokey sees him too.

I suppose a frog is not as much fun as a mouse.

Should end this post now, but first, want to show you a few pictures of big Eli and little Weetie and how they have been sleeping lately...

yep, these are our guard dogs

Thank you for visiting. Hope to be back real soon. Hope you will come back too.

Oh!  "Happy Mother's Day" to all you mothers out there.

Love,
Henny

  3. Your teeny garden isn't teeny any more. At least to me it seems big and full of all sorts of good things to come. I like your wattle fence. I've never actually seen one but they look challenging to weave. Oh and that Iris is so gorgeous. I'm looking forward to my Iris blooming but that will be another week or so.
Happy Mothers Day to you too!!

  7. I so enjoy seeing your little garden coming to life, "little" being your words, mine would be "big".
So many vegetables all in that one weed-free space, and so lovingly tended.
Your gardening spot is precious, I can imagine you sitting there after working in your garden, taking a break and contemplating your next project....as we do :)
Lovely pups, they surely are the best of friends.
Happy Mother's Day to you also Henny !
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  14. Here l am..again..ALL behind, it's these tight
trousers/pants..must get the words correct for
    you lovely Americans..! :).

Once again the garden looks lovely! Great!
I must say, l do like a garden to look a bit
rustic, and wild..much more interesting and
exciting..prim and proper gardens are o.k
for palaces and parks and castles..!
Great photos Henny..HeHe! And the guard dogs
are brilliant..they look very vicious and dangerous,
    and butter would'nt melt..Bless!xx

Think you'll find the toad is quite safe with Smokey..
Cats won't bother with toads as they excrete a nasty
taste from there skin..Though my George used to pick up
frogs from the pond, and bring them down to the patio,
and play with them..! :). They he'd walk away leaving me
to take it back to the pond, he never harmed them..l used
    to say.."George..Hop it! :).

Well..best get on..just gone seven over here..Suns out in ALL
it's glory..another lemon tea, visit to the bathroom, breakfast,
then on into town..I do love the weekend...
And! And! A Happy Mums Day to ALL the lovely Mums out there...!!!

  17. Your gardens look so nice. I'm anxiously waiting for it to dry up enough (we had almost 10" of rain in a week) so I can work in the yard and plant flowers and tomato plants! Running late this year here in Kansas.v

I'm amazed at your garden. It is so tidy and weed-free. Ours is still overrun with weeds, in spite of all Adam's efforts. We need to work out there.

  24. Our weather has warmed, and dried, up so I am out there more now. All is green and things are growing well. I have some squash plants that are turning into triffids, I hope to have a decent crop. The fruit trees and bushes have a good set and I have flowers on the strawberries. You grow so many things that I would love to, we just do not have the warmth needed.
