Sorry, it's not the snowball bush again :)

Hey friends. Had planned to throw this old arbor away then thought about the playhouse...what a perfect spot for the wild red honeysuckle to grow...

funny how junk and broken items can add so much to a playhouse/potting shed.

Oh, would you mind terribly if I post just a few more yard pictures? Thank goodness for blogging friends.

I mean, here's the hottest pink azalea blooming in front of Poppy's shop...

and guess who lugged these huge heavy rocks and placed them here to cover the brick edging??

I cautioned Poppy to be careful and not step on the young tender hostas. "I didn't want hostas planted in front of my shop anyway", he said. Oops! The plain old brown shop needed something. :)

So I had been working in the teeny tiny garden, came back to the house and as I rounded the corner thought, oh my gosh! This huge azalea spilling downhill is so pretty, just had to have one more picture...

and the Iris have started blooming. Be still my heart!

and if that's not enough...the red azalea growing between the two white azaleas is the brightest red ever...

and in the background, the yellow water Iris. Okay, enough is enough. Thank you for looking.

Here's a look through the garden gate into the teeny tiny garden...

Not much to see yet. That big green plant is horseradish. It refuses to leave. Last year, before breaking my wrist, I dug and dug and dug and thought it was completely gone...but not so. Guess the roots are here to stay!

I'll leave you with a picture of Eli and Ellie, our two livestock gardian dogs :) relaxing in the goat lot......

Thank you dear friends.

Maybe I should have been a weatherman :)

I know! It's that snowball bush again this year! Well, it is spring!

We have had the craziest weather. These pictures were taken early last week on a cool cloudy day...

Azaleas and snowball bush just beginning to open pretty.

Oh, and the white azaleas! So many times the unexpected frost comes and turns them brown.

Love this two tone melon color azalea...

and the wild azalea is beautiful...

The weather! Everything about Easter Sunday here on Henny Penny Lane was perfect. Andee and Todd came. We had blue skies and sunshine, and a good dinner.

Monday came along...

and the weather completely turned around...bringing a cold front, led by rain, rain, rain, high winds and dropping temperatures! All day long! We actually built a fire in the fireplace and kept it going.

Not a creature stirred, well, looks like a hen and the rooster did venture out in the cold rain.

So, Tuesday the sun came back but it was too wet to do much outside...then came the weather forecast for Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning! Frost/freeze warning...especially counties near the North Carolina/Virginia border, meaning us!

I pulled out ever old sheet and tablecloth I could find and covered most of the Hostas and ferns, and put buckets and flower pots over the plants in the vegetable garden. The temperature dropped to exactly 32 degrees! Freezing!

So yesterday, as the day warmed I carried the wheelbarrow and rake and worked in the back yard a little...

The sky was blue, blue, blue...

Remember, I never got to rake leaves last fall. It was October 10th when Ellie and I crashed head on and broke my wrist...the beginning of my aches and pains. :)

So the grounds under and around the azaleas are covered in ugly brown leaves. I raked and hauled away three tarp loads. :(

Oh my gosh, you've probably all left. I'll hush now and publish this mess. Thank you friends!

Love, Henny

My dearest dearest friends,

I simply can not get over all the nice comments and well wishes you left on my last post. That alone is enough to make anybody feel like a million dollars. Thank you!

Just a quick update and then no more about my ailments. Last Friday the doctor gave me another injection in each shoulder for pain and swelling. In six weeks if the pain is back we'll do a MRI to check for a tear in the rotator cuff of my right shoulder, which is most painful. Physical therapy helped the pinched nerve in my left shoulder and arm.

And, for the last few nights, I have been able to sleep. Sweet sweet sleep!

Eli and Ellie...

wanted to say "thank you" too.  Look a little closer ...

at miss Ellie's silly face. What a silly girl. Pardon Eli's dirty chin. They were in the back yard in the leaves.

We have color down Henny Penny Lane again...

and up at the teeny tiny garden and greenhouse...

We do have pollen, everything has a dusty look Oh, but the ground is dotted with violets...

even the weeds are pretty in early spring...

So very thankful to be feeling better...just can't go crazy and overdo it in the yard and garden, no matter how far behind I am.

All my big major "to do" lists have been put away, out of my sight! I've simply got to learn to do a little at the time.

I will leave you with a picture of Smokey resting in the sun on the steps of Poppy's shop. We could change his name to Dusty...

I do appreciate you all so much.

Love,
Henny
