Earlier, I started a post looking out the back screen door...
saying there were no fall colors here yet, then thought, well let me take another look...
so carrying the camera, I walked around the outside of the house and down to the pond...
and actually found some pretty fall colors, and there on an old log, sat a big frog...
then going back up the leaf strewn path to the house...
past the rusty old yard chairs that need a coat of paint...
and friends, this is just the beginning of the falling leaves. Another few weeks and we will be ankle deep in leaves; not a speck of green will show through.
I love the little willow oak leaves that fall in the front yard and enjoy raking them. It's the willow oak leaves I use to cover the teeny tiny garden before cold freezing weather sets in.
While wantering around, I made another picture of Poppy's new carport. I'll tell you why...
In passing, something about it reminded me of a covered bridge...so this will be "the covered bridge" on Henny Penny Lane. :) How's that for make believe?
Made me remember "The Bridges of Madison County", the book and the movie. Oh my gosh! But I really wanted Francesca to run away with Robert Kincaid. I mean, how could she not have gone with him! But then, I love Clint Eastwood!
Okay back to the yard, and the dullness of my life. The most excitement I've had lately is breaking my wrist, and the new knobs and pulls on the kitchen cabinets.
Oh, and would you look...
While down at the pond taking pictures, a plane flew over, heading to RDU from up north. I just pointed the camera up and had no idea I would see the plane in the picture. Had to zoom in, but there it is. Takes very little to make me happy. :)

I love that first peek through your screen door, exactly the type of door I would love to have instead of the modern steel one that adorns our house. The walk around the property was exactly the peaceful place I needed today. Could I please come and visit? :-) Your home and property is exactly what Dennis and I have wanted all of our marriage. Some dreams we must let go of and replace them with others.

a year or 2 ago. Up here today it is just plain dark out. No sun and no break in the clouds. I saw your plane just fine
after you said it was in the sky picture. any imagination about bridges or otherwise, makes for a happy day.
We are a little bit ahead of you in fall color-but not full on color yet. Maybe a week away here.

OK, I'm laughing now. At you. I hope that's OK. You see I live less than a mile east of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and while those planes don't take off right over my house, we hear them, and the helicopters that also frequent the sky here due to the major freeways to the east of us that often have crashes. My life is very different from yours, and I like my life, but I also love hearing about, and seeing, yours.

You mentioned "The Bridges of Madison County" and I agree with you, the book and the movie are just wonderful. People with good imaginations are among my favorite people. Don't ever lose yours because it is like icing on the cake of life! I hope your wrist is doing better. You two take care!

Our leaves haven't started to fall, but the acorns have in force.
I thought that was a covered bridge when I first saw the picture.
I can get excited just walking through fallen leaves! I also love the view through the screen door. I hope the wrist is doing well and healing nicely. I can now almost forget that mine was ever broken. Almost!

Popped in for coffee at my usual cafe,

decorating, before they move in next week!

baby...no pets, not even a cat..! :(

ReplyDeleteJust look at that big old frog! He doesn’t seem to be bothered by human company, either. Some of the trees in our front yard are starting to lose their leaves. They never turn color, just brown, and then fall down so we have to rake them up. Doesn’t seem fair that they can’t show off a bit first!
