Two crazy busy days!

New addition to the teeny tiny sewing room...

The whirlwind started Tuesday morning when BunBun had to be in Wake Forest at the Vet's office by 8:30! We were on the road at 7:15 Tuesday morning. Leaving BunBun in Dr. Harper's care, I left Wake Forest and headed south to Raleigh. Finally, things were coming together so the seller from Craigslist, Kate, with the TV/VCR and I could meet. It was worth the drive and the fifty dollars. The TV/VCR is like new and Kate was friendly, nice, and sweet as could be. I could have spent an hour just talking with her...except Poppy and Eli were pacing the floor back at home waiting for me. Eli had a 10:30 appointment with the Vet in Bunn...totally in the opposite direction from Wake Forest. I practically flew home, picked up Poppy and Eli and we arrived in Bunn fifteen minutes late. :(  We got back home at 12:15 and at 2:30 the Vet in Wake Forest called saying BunBun was ready to come home. WHEW!!!

Poor, Poor baby BunBun. Such a tiny body with all that fur gone...

With BunBun sedated, it took Dr. Harper, with the help of her groomer and an assistant, three hours to shave off the matted fur. BunBun now has a home in the laundry room where it's warm, where I can constantly talk to him and pet him. This must never never happen again! Believe me, BunBun will soon be sitting in my lap. We're going to be best buds...got to be or Poppy will have me skinned!!! This little Vet visit costs 244.00!! Really!!

How many times have I tried to rig up some way of hanging an old bucket over the bird bath...so water could drip, drip, drip! Many times!  Then Far Side from farsideoffifty.blogspot.com posts a picture on her blog of a watering can hanging over her bird bath...an idea she came up with and her husband Far Guy made it work. I thought to myself, "Henny, you dunce"! Here sits an old watering can and standing not far from the birdbath, a shepherd's hook, with nothing on it...duh! So thank you Far Side and Far Guy...

Do you mind my copying your idea? This is not set up sturdy yet. Just giving it a try.

Rain is on it's way for this afternoon and all day tomorrow and it's a little cool today...but spring is here and as daughter Lynn says, "be still my heart"!

More Crocus blooms...

and lastly...poor Eli had a busy night of barking last night. There must have been a booger out there somewhere. He is tired out today...

Honestly, I have got to catch up reading all my favorite blogs. Where do the hours go???  I appreciate you all so much.

Love,
Henny

I'm wore out just thinking of that whirlwind of appointments, but glad everything went well with both vets, despite being a little lighter in the pocketbook !
Yes, you'll have to try really hard to handle Bun Bun daily, so that fur brushing becomes an enjoyable necessity.
I love the idea of the watering can over the birdbath, it's whimsical.
Rain here too, and a little cooler, Spring tomorrow ! Yah.

    1. Yes, that was quite a day. It was raining hard when we got up this morning and very cool. Hopefully the sun will come out this afternoon!
That was a lot to spend on a bunny. I was almost afraid to come home! : )

  3. What a busy day, hopefully that will be the last of the vet trips for awhile. Loving the watering can over the bird bath I may give that a try.

  4. Maybe you can sell BunBun's fur to pay for his haircut! At wool fairs it goes for crazy amounts per OUNCE. Once you get into a routine, it's not very time consuming at all to keep them groomed. I wish I lived nearby to help. I miss my bunnies.

    1. Oh Cynthia, I sure wish you were nearby too. I will enjoy brushing BunBun if he will ever sit in my lap.

    1. Hey Jane. I miss looking at your blog. It's probably something dumb on my part that I don't know how.

  6. Your daffodils are blooming too I see! Keeper will bark most of the night if we let him sleep outside. I usually bribe him inside with a treat at bedtime lol. ROFL Keeper hangs off his bed like Eli does... they don't make dog beds as big as they guys are when they stretch out. I keep saying I am going to make him a bigger one :O)....Bun Bun is sooooooo darn cute! I so want some bunnies, but to hot here for them....

    1. We actually wanted Eli to sleep in the bed with us...can you imagine! He will not sleep inside. He's restless and moves around all night. He loves his corner out on the front porch so we let him out there, even though he barks at every movement.

  7. Oh my, that made for some awfully expensive angora, but then I guess it wasn't even usable since it was matted. Poor BunBun, I sure hope you bond and he takes a liking to the grooming.
I see lots of daffodils blooming there too, Spring is definitely here too, and we have rain today. Maybe I should go and putter in the greenhouse for a bit.

    1. Expensive is right! That would have bought lots of groceries. But poor BunBun. Maybe at some point I can sell some of his fur. :[

  8. Oh, don't you hate it when things are all crammed up together like that and you race, race, race from one to the other praying all the way that there won't be anything getting in the way to delay you.

BunBun does look a little bit deflated but having him inside should help with getting him used to having you pick him up and grooming him once he has something there to groom that is. Cynthia's suggestion about keeping BunBun's fur and selling it is a good one. That angora yarn is expensive stuff and if you can find someone around there who spins I bet they would be interested in buying BunBun's castoffs.

Your daffodils are beautiful. We have some up about 2 or 3 inches but only crocus, winter aconite, and snowdrops blooming so far. It's all coming though just a week or two of warm weather and sunshine and stuff will be busting out all over. Just love springtime!

    1. I've really got to check on selling bunbun's fun...if I ever get to the point of being able to hold him. I pet him and talk to him every time I pass the laundry room. I wish the crocus were blooming in a pretty part of the yard. I don't know how the crocus bulbs got scattered about. It's looking like spring. It just needs to warm up a little here.

  9. I heard on the news today that more cold weather is headed east. I hope you don't get hit hard.
Your animals are precious to you, and they are very sweet.

  10. I hope you and Bun Bun become best buds. I am so happy spring is here! I have been enjoying this great warm weather! I have been outside everyday. I hate the cool rainy days but the sun is coming back out soon.

    2. Oh Vicki, I am so happy to see spring too! You probably have a post out there that I haven't read. There is not enough hours in the day. If I manage to post something, then I don't have time to read. If I start reading blogs, I don't have time to post anything! What's a person to do? :) Guess we all have the same problems, don't we. Love you.

  11. You will have to brush Bun Bun everyday. They can be a real mess if not groomed dialy..and expensive too..as you know.
No problem using the watercan dripper...I like mine and I bet you will like yours too:)

  12. I had forgotten about the wool block...it killed one of my angoras. Here is a link this guy has good advice. He shears his every three months...good idea for you! :)

  14. Hi Henny, don't know how I missed this post - sorry !
Sweet Bun bun - he's saying 'thank you Mommy'. He must feel so much better now.
You certainly had a busy day.
He will be beautiful again in not time at all, but in the meantime, imagine how good he must be feeling, his skin can breathe again.
    Well done to your vet.
