I can't believe I am just seeing you...Dear Jen,
I can't believe I am just seeing your comment!!! So glad your bike hike turned out good and you enjoyed it. And the rain, waiting for you to finish and pack up! That is amazing! I love to trudge through the forest, but I have never looked for mushrooms. I'll have to read about morel mushrooms and then look for some. That would be fun. I like the name Jenny Wagonrod! :)

Love,
HennyHenny Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05958386938311591314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541568171657986.post-87440901233793634742013-05-09T20:11:20.968-07:002013-05-09T20:11:20.968-07:00Dear Henny,
You need not apologize for calling m...Dear Henny,
You need not apologize for calling me 'Jenny' instead of Jen. My Grammy used to call me that after a favorite teacher she had had on the prairie when she was a young woman. Jenny Wagonrod, I kid you not.

The bike hike was a great success. It was about an hour away. It rained all the way down. The good Lord held off the rain during the event. We had a hotdog cookout waiting for us in the park before turning back for the second half of the ride. It was so beautiful. We saw a freshly fallen log that was chewed by the beavers. The river was very full. After we loaded all the bikes up and headed back, the skies poured forth again. Isn't that something?

Do you trudge through the forest and find morel mushrooms where you live? I'm very fond of them, but have yet to see any this spring. :(

Off to hit the hay. I will sleep like a rock tonight!
Love,
Jen Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541568171657986.post-65430801535498398462013-05-09T18:01:48.565-07:002013-05-09T18:01:48.565-07:00Hey Lesa, Thank you. I pulled up 3 dead tomato plants and 1 pepper plant from the garden today. Its just been too wet and too cold for a garden. Also when the sun came out yesterday, the cabbage plants wilted. Probably in shock. Maybe things will level off soon. Keep encouraged. I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Hope you both enjoy the bike hike.
Love,
Henny PennyHenny Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05958386938311591314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541568171657986.post-26598079217422918422013-05-08T17:13:00.365-07:002013-05-08T17:13:00.365-07:00Dear Henny,
Poppy SHOULD apply to be the weather...Dear Henny,
Poppy SHOULD apply to be the weatherman. Maybe he could steer us towards The Sunny Side, and stay away from It's Raining Again Blvd!

After supper tonight the family was all ready to go on a little jaunt around the neighborhood. You could see, literally see, yellow poofs of pollen leaving the trees as the wind blew. Next thing you know, it was raining. Again. We turned around and came home.

Tomorrow is the twenty mile bike hike in which Middle Child and I are supposed to be participating. I would be much more enthused were it not so drippy and wet. I'll try to get in the spirit of things, so as not to dampen the frivolity.

We have lots of clay here too. I have worked and worked to get it so I can grow something in it.

The side board is a handy addition to your potting area.

Love,
Jen Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
