Well, this week has started off wrong. I have a doctor's appointment at 3:00 today so it's hard to get into anything. That comes from my dear mama...
"I just despise to have to go anywhere on Monday", she would say, "it ruins the whole week. "How Monday starts off is how the whole week will be".
No doubt, mama had been cleaning here, or maybe she had rolled her hair and tied a scarf around the bobby pins. This was taken back in the 1940s in Summerville, SC. I can see the moss hanging from the trees in the background.
Anyhow, last week I went into a cleaning frenzy starting in the living room which lasted three days...
Oh my gosh! It's the bottles and deer heads and turkey tails and the ruffled valences, so many things to collect dust...
Couldn't help but remember the old Country Living Magazines and Jo Northrup who wrote "Simple Country Pleasures", a one page feature each month.
In one issue she wrote about spring cleaning where she carried all the baskets down to the pond for a washing then putting them in the sun to dry...
I carried my baskets in the wheelbarrow to the water facet, gave them a good washing then into the sun to dry...
So, here it is Tuesday morning already. Didn't get to finish this post yesterday. A 3:00 appointment in Wake Forest is too late in the day. I was dark getting home...thanks to the time change it gets dark right after lunch now!
One of our neighbors, over the river and through the woods, actually, across the path and through the woods, stopped by with her two granddaughters, Abbie, and Evie, to see the bunnies...
They are such sweet girls. Abbie is holding the white bunny, Daisy, and Evie is holding the gray bunny, Sage.
Poppy and I got busy and finally put a new top on the rabbit lot...it has a new 10' x 10' tight fitting top covered with the new green tarp on top. It's a warm, safe, and cozy home...
It's amazing how many places won't let you adopt a rabbit now unless you agree to keep it inside. Rabbits love being outside! Daisy and Sage seem so happy running and playing. Randall Rabbit, Daisy, and Sage all have cozy houses inside the lot. The wire and shadows make the 10' x 10' lot look crowded but actually they have lots of room to move around.
and this time of the year it's so pretty around the bunny lot. Like this tree in front of their lot. I was looking up...
Poppy has a chair next to the bunny lot where he sits with his gun waiting for a trophy buck to walk past. Don't worry, he won't shoot a deer there. :) but he did get this good shot of the house from down there...
I get started on a post and don't know when to quit so I will hush now. Thank you for visiting, if you're still here.
Love, Henny

Such sweet photos with your neighbor's grands loving on your bunnies, Henny. I loved all your photos, but especially the one of your mom. It certainly speaks beautifully of an era gone by. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat was a lot of work! Good for you.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful around you, love that color. It's sweet that the little girls came to visit the bunnies.
How beautiful dear Henny Penny. I would love to help you clean your lounge - yes I have all those bits & pieces that gather dust too. It turns out to be quite a major when I clean it all. That photo of the pond & the autumn trees is so stunning - I would be putting that on a card. xx
ReplyDeleteA very enjoyable look into your world. Very cool. Love that you got your baskets all cleaned and your mom sounds similar to things my mom would say (she passed). It's funny because I hear myself saying some of her things or doing some of things. I love that. Bittersweet goodness.
ReplyDeleteThe bunnies look like they have a wonderful home and that's wonderful. Interesting about the adoption places only wanting them to be inside when I agree with you, bunnies love to be outside.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week. Cheers, Ivy.
I wonder if a cleaning frenzy will get me one of these days. I've become so lax with all the housework. Maybe now that the growing season is done I'll do more housework. I love seeing your sweet bunnies. I wonder if you saw the post where I wrote that my bunny died ( she got very old and fell asleep and didn't wake up again ).
ReplyDeleteooooO! Bit behind to~day...Just got back from town,
ReplyDeleteSwitched the PC on...and it decided to do an AVG scan..
That took forty minutes...so here l am, all done and dusted,
and virus free...! :).
I don't really need to do a lot of cleaning, l live in a three
bedroom home, bit of garden either side, and l live alone,
so the amount of mess or dust, is minimul....HeHe! I open
the back, and front doors, and let the wind, blow through,
and blow the dust out the door...And...If you believe that....! :O).
And nice to see the bunnies all settled and cosy....and enjoying
cuddles from two lovely young ladies....! Bless!xx
Pond...? Pond...? Oh! Yes! Of course...I still get confused...your
pond over there...would still be a lake over here...HeHe!
Everything over there is so much bigger than over here...I still
remember...And..I always loved American cars...Finest on the
planet...Great..!
Well...Best get on, l see Julie's posted, best get over there....! :O).

Years ago I was amazed when I heard that you could (and should) wash your baskets in water so they don't dry out. !!! Love that idea! I do hate cleaning, esp. dusting. I told my d-i-l that dust was decorative, and we don't have to dust our houses for each other :) She liked that.
ReplyDeleteHenny, loved seeing the girls and the bunnies. Never thought about having to keep rabbits in the house if adopted. When I had my pets, even into my late 20's, they had great outdoor cages and I'd play on the ground with them. I'm doing cleaning too. But for a different reason. Getting new flooring and don't want the workmen to think I have dirty floors now! Precious is going to hate this when they finally give us a date. They say 4 days work! Vinyl flooring and carpet, so it may not be 4 in a row, I hope. I'll have to clean the higher up stuff when they leave as it will make everything dirty again, lol.
ReplyDeletesweet precious photos of the girls with the cute bunnies. And the photo of your mom is so good...Dusting is sure a big headache...not only do you have to reach places that are difficult to get to, but then you have to worry about all the sneezing and the sinus issues it leaves you with. Most people never think of washing the baskets, but they too need a good cleaning...My most likely feel neglected. Of course, we have it a lot easier now than what your mom had it back in the days...We have equipment to help us. Have a great day Henny....enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteHi Henny! ♥ Those bunnies are so cute...I'm glad you have a nice outdoor shelter for them, I think most animals love to be outside!!! And I kind of agree with your mom lol...though it may not ruin the week, but I feel like...when I have to leave my cozy home, the entire day is ruined and more so, I have trouble sleeping the night before!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Henny! The trees are so beautiful there. I can imagine the bunnies all enjoying their home. I think it would be fun to have a bunny but Dennis doesn't so there you go...
ReplyDeleteI cleaned the condo pretty well last week and hopefully that will hold for awhile. I have better things to do than clean! Ha! Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Henny, I also agree with your mom and don't like to plan anything on Mondays. Mondays should be a free day... an extra gift after Sunday. It does help to get through the rest of the week. And your new bunnies are adorable. Does Randall not like to be held since there was no pic? Does he play with the other two? Just curious... or perhaps he's a loner?
ReplyDeleteYou are quite clever at writing so that it seems you are talking directly to your readers, which I love. Three days of cleaning one room! Yes, that's what I need to do. Every room...three days! :~) Thanks for another great post!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy. So nice to see all your photos. I can't believe you have to keep a rabbit in the house!! That's crazy.
ReplyDeleteLove your bunnies..so pretty and so are your little visitors..beautiful young ladies. I am a collector & need to take cleaning inspiration from you. I now it feels great when all done!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute bunnies getting some lovin from some young gals!!
