I thought maybe after I pull up all that is visible, then I would carefully spray any new growth with Roundup. That might work. :)

Can you believe how quickly the weather can change? So we gave all the firewood from the hardwoods to my sister. They heat with wood. What we threw away was from the pine trees, which is not good to burn for firewood. I wish we could have sold the large pines for lumber but there was no way a truck could get in our back yard to haul them away...thanks to my landscaping! :)Henny Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05958386938311591314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541568171657986.post-66779618977089903922014-03-12T12:53:46.258-07:002014-03-12T12:53:46.258-07:00Such good advice. You may have a job for the rest of your life. We had a big tree taken down fall before last which was surrounded with ivy. With all the resulting sunshine I wanted to be able to plant something around the stump but the ivy had to go. I knew I didn't have the stamina or time to dig it all out and so hired someone this spring to do it for me. He, fortunately, had had experience digging ivy out of his own yard and so dug mine out. He said that you have to dig down to where the roots stop (and that was about 12 or 15 inches down) otherwise the ivy would just regenerate. An alternative, if your ivy is sort of localized, is just to let it be and surround it with a border of some sort so that it can't snake along the ground and root as it goes then when it starts to leap over the border just cut it back to that edge.

Yesterday was wonderful here as well. Mid 60's. I got some bushes pruned back for the coming (I hope) spring, some perennial tops cut back, some raking done and off loaded half a truck load of manure that I got a couple of weeks ago at a local horse farm. So nice to be outside actually doing something!

Today it snowed a little again this morning, has gotten much much colder, and is supposed to go down to 10 tonight. What fun!

Victoria in Indiana vichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18428581552807859803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541568171657986.post-73933418682927606672014-03-12T10:48:42.989-07:002014-03-12T10:48:42.989-07:00Eli is a cutie pie and I love hearing all about hi...Eli is a cutie pie and I love hearing all about him. Puppies are more time consuming than babies and this is the time he will learn the most, get him out and about meeting other people, touch and squeeze his paws and stick your fingers in his mouth and ears every day so he gets used to it and knows he can trust you.
